RFA
[edit]Is it just me, but is it getting much harder for candidates to become Administrators? I agree with the editor "Give the editor a mop and bucket. I sense good faith enthusiasm and a willingness to learn" SethWhales talk 20:59, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
- It has become much harder. There are literally old RfAs in the ~2004-2006 era where people said "I want to see what the tools do", and they got it, but if you look at RfAs on other projects that have comparatively low participation, you find that the standard for RfA is still much much lower than it is on en.wiki. There have also been people desysoped on en.wiki in the interim to much fan fare and wasted time and hurt feelings, and unfortunately, we have a system where you can't undo the mop until things get so bad that half the time a couple of people end up leaving the project for good. So you have to weight whether the risk of losing two or three good editors is worth the benefit of gaining one potentially good admin. It's not ideal, but that's the way it is, and no one has figured out a way to change it. GMGtalk 21:20, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
