Unfortunate withdrawal
[edit]I think that this candidate had a real chance to succeed. I fully support Wisdom and Ryan's right to oppose for whatever reasons they like, but even a brief perusal of this Mizu's contributions shows an editor without ego, who learns from mistakes. We need more admins like that, not less. S. Dean Jameson 03:13, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- I wish she hadn't withdrawn - I suspect thing would get better on this RfA. I've asked her to reconsider. Ryan Postlethwaite 03:17, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- I was actually surprised when I saw it, but it looks like it's reopened, good for her. Wisdom89 (T / C) 03:33, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- The problem with reopening is that, with two such high-profile editors opposing her with such strong language, I knew there would be pileons. This is really too bad, as I think she would ame a really great administrator. May I ask why you seem to "auto oppose" anyone who brings a few names you feel are bad noms to UAA? I ask this in all sincerity, as I've seen you do that a couple of times now, and I was curious as to why you're so passionate about that particular type of mistake by a common editor. S. Dean Jameson 04:01, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'd be happy to elaborate. Normally I don't like to oppose due to a few mistakes (diffs), however, UAA is an area that I feel quite strongly about due to its potential to inadvertently drive new editors away from the project. One or two mistakes can be overlooked, but closer to a dozen or so rattles my cage. I absolutely don't "auto-oppose" based on this reason alone. It's when the editor indicates in question 1 that they'd like to clear the UAA backlog. I can't ignore that. It's part of my criteria. The same goes for dodgy AIV reports. It's similar to Ryan's oppose for CSD, just a different admin area. I apologize if my language was too abrasive, that absolutely was not my intention. Regardless, I still stand behind my oppose. I hope that clarifies abit. Wisdom89 (T / C) 04:47, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- The UAA policy is so fluid, it's inconsistent--it's a mess, I agree with several of her submissions. — Rlevse • Talk • 10:05, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
