Why are people talking about the bot?
[edit]I don't get this.. I think the bot is irrelevant, either on the support or the oppose side. Am I missing something? Friday (talk) 21:40, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- I am inclined to agree, but I suppose if a user had been careless with a bot, it could signal a potential lack of care with admin tools. The relevance in this case is debateable but hardly a critical issue, in my opinion. GDonato (talk) 21:44, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, he was desysopped because he ran his bot on his admin account, and, if he constantly makes mistakes with the bot, well... That's why people (including myself) are opposing on that basis, along wth the trust thing GDonate mentioned above. --Boricuæddie 22:00, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- He was, really? Re-reading Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Betacommand, bot usage was only one of the concerns. Myself, I am far more concerned about his history of inappropriate blocks, history of poor judgment, and unsatisfactory communication. The bot is small potatoes. Friday (talk) 22:10, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- There are occasional mistakes with the bot, I agree, and they are fixed, but from what I've seen, a lot of complaints about the bot have been from users who don't understand the image policy very well. Acalamari 22:08, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

His behavior with the bot is part of his behavior. It is thus relevant. He persists in changing the tasks of the bot, running untested code on the live wiki, and not bending an inch to those who think that in large part the bot is doing the wrong task, and instead should be fixing the problems instead of tagging them. All of these are bad things in a prospective administrator, especially for someone with a history of repeatedly running a bot on their main account. GRBerry 20:27, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
