Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Xbox One system software
These things have been useful to me for years since they're notoriously difficult to find on the vendor websites. Very sad to find that someone has decided they should be deleted, making Wikipedia that much more useless. Re WP:CHANGELOG: "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.". Leave the changelogs alone. Hypercuboid (talk) 10:06, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- I agree. But they're considering keeping the changelogs…or maybe not… I can't tell. But if they ever do get removed, at least you can still see them in View History. --BenM64 (talk) 10:29, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, once an article is deleted, you won't be able to view it within the page history. --benlisquareT•C•E 12:52, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- I was talking about the changelogs. If the page itself stays, the changelogs can still be viewed in "View History". Sorry - I forgot to mention that. --BenM64 (talk) 12:53, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Delete?! No way
[edit]The information provided in system software pages used to be excellent.
Now for utterly ridiculous, bureaucratic reasons, they have been hacked away, removing information that IS NOT easily available elsewhere.
This is vandalism and the destruction of information that has been both interesting and useful to many. M
The fact that there is a section on system software in the device pages is not justification to delete pages that contain very clear details of each upgrade, enabling users to get a view of exactly what features became available and when that is not included in anywhere near as accessible a manner in the device pages.
The 'discussion' of this destruction that is already well underway (as the tables I used to check up on every few months have gone from PS3 and PS4 system software pages and possibly others) is a farce. Why have the discussion pretending that no significant change will occur until a consensus is reached, but then to hack out the most useful parts of these pages?! I'm incredulous and furious in equal measure!!
And sheesh, the main discussion is the most unbelievably dull, petty and illogical load of tosh.
The logic behind this is flawed. It's like saying that because there is a page on horses, there should not be a page on horse riding, or the rules of dressage. Thanks to this change, Wikipedia is now significantly less useful to many of us. Whether it meets the strict definition of vandalism in Wiki-world is irrelevant. To me, the hobbling of these pages, the proposal to destroy them and the interminably dull 'debate' about is most certainly a form of vandalism to me. A useful source of information has been wrecked because of an arcane and obsessive desire to apply rules in a harsh and inappropriate way for the benefit of no-one.
Please, we need more of us to speak up and defend Wikipedia from attacks like this. Seriously, who on Earth looks up some info, sees a page on Wikipedia and thinks 'oh the world would be so much better if we either destroyed this information or buried it in some huge overview page whilst gutting the most useful parts out and I must go wade through lots of rules and regulations and find some tenuous excuse for my vandalism and censorship'?! Oh yeah, those who are responsible for this. For people who need to be aware of this info and refer to it regularly, whoever started this has just made our lives that bit more difficult. Great. Thanks.
Give us the version tables and ALL deleted info back NOW!!!!! Zctyp18 (talk) 12:05, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- @Zctyp18: Please note that the page for this discussion is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Xbox One system software, which is not a Talk page. Also, rather than making demands, please consider invoking established Wikipedia policy and consensus to back up your position; it tends to be much more effective. —67.14.236.50 (talk) 01:57, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
