PIA protections and sanctions need their own page

[edit]

Now that ArbCom has said that PIA articles can be ECP/1RR'ed absent any past disruption (sort of what we were already doing with new ones or subjects directly relevant to the current conflict, but now this is applied to the entire topic area) we must move the log of those actions to its own page as, given the amount already there and added to it by recent automated protections, that section is already far longer than anything else on the page.

Who wants to do it? What are we supposed to call it? Daniel Case (talk) 04:36, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've cut down about 75% of the wikitext of WP:AELOG/2025. Let me know if you still see a need for it to be on a separate page. SilverLocust 💬 18:40, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Look at what's there already. We're not even halfway done with the first quarter of the year. Trimmed wikitext notwithstanding, what do you think this will look like by June?
If you take the voluminous sections from the 2024 and 2023 logs (and for good measure 2022), there is far more than enough to justify a separate page like the ones we have for RUSUKR and SASG. Daniel Case (talk) 04:50, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Since the firehose torrent of these protection requests shows no signs of abating, I will be creating a separate page for this in a few days. Daniel Case (talk) 09:00, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Daniel Case: This page is "maintained by the Committee and its clerks", so any changes to where these are logged should be done only by an arbitrator or clerk. I'll mention your suggestion again tomorrow on our clerking chat and/or mailing list.
Could you clarify what you're finding inconvenient? For example, is it difficulty scrolling down to the bottom when editing the PIA section? Loading the page? Navigating to other sections of the page other than PIA? Some combination? SilverLocust 💬 09:46, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The first and third ...
Can we also maybe archive the months we've gotten through?
I am seriously considering just not handling anymore requests for PIA protection if something isn't done. Daniel Case (talk) 10:01, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Looking through my logs, I said at the start of February that I was fine with splitting this off, as long as ease of searching is not too affected (I believe that the search box would continue to work, but a simple Ctrl+F wouldn't). Note that I didn't vote for this protection remedy, though. Sdrqaz (talk) 16:43, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Daniel Case: It's been split to WP:AELOG/2025/PIA. SilverLocust 💬 12:01, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
