Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Astronomy
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to astronomy. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Astronomy|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to astronomy. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Seems to be an editor (Alexander Klimets) presenting their own research as a Wikipedia article; but his research doesn't seem to have received any attention so far[1] (listed on Google Scholar, but no citations[2]). Fram (talk) 11:23, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

- Delete fails GNG. Scholar yields ~35 hits for "multidimensional singularity"; none are secondary sources about this formulation of the term. Articles are mostly about topology, image processing, and mathematics, not physics. Google hits are mostly stock images. Anerdw (talk) 16:09, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

In 16 years this article has expanded to little more than a single sentence. Notability is not currently demonstrated - the only citation is the official website, a primary source. – numbermaniac 08:02, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

- Redirect to Swinburne University of Technology. Individual research centres within universities are rarely independently notable, and I couldn't find anything to suggest that this one is an exception. MCE89 (talk) 11:37, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

Fails WP:NASTRO. No significant coverage about this as an individual object. Far below naked eye, only "discovered" in 2013, no unique or particularly unusual properties. Lithopsian (talk) 19:29, 16 May 2025 (UTC)

- Along with Kepler-67, this is one of two stars in an open cluster that were found to host planets in 2013; the discovery paper oddly isn't cited in the current article. There's not much individual coverage, but it's of interest and has been discussed as part of a group (planets in open clusters). One option might be to merge to NGC 6811, the cluster it's part of. SevenSpheres (talk) 19:53, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
- Delete, notability can't be determined. 21 Andromedae (talk) 11:03, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- I would oppose deletion as there are multiple possible targets for a merge or redirect - NGC 6811 as well as List of exoplanets discovered in 2013. SevenSpheres (talk) 16:09, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect to List of exoplanets discovered in 2013 – As WP:ATD. Svartner (talk) 18:57, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
