The essay WP:BFDI explains how the web series Battle for Dream Island had no Wikipedia article because popularity does not guarantee notability.
... wait, did that sentence just say, "had no Wikipedia article"?
And why is the link to BFDI blue instead of red? Hey, wait a minute! BFDI was removed from the title blacklist! Object show is a functioning redirect! Why are we allowing this non-notable fancruft on Wikipedia?!
The short answer: It's notable now. Enough independent, reliable, secondary sources have been found to meet the general notability guideline; see Wikipedia:Source assessment/Battle for Dream Island. (Funnily enough, the final source actually mentions its lack of coverage in Wikipedia at the time.) A consensus was reached to unsalt the title and allow recreation at deletion review, which was affirmed at a second AfD discussion. If you want, you can go edit the article. And no, the article cannot be deleted again for lack of notability because notability is not temporary.
So, if you're looking for an example of a popular topic that does not have a Wikipedia article, you're going to have to find something else.
