Appearance
LNESC Upward Bound in Dallas, Texas will have a group of students come aboard and help organize a few things around here. They are a group of high-school students that will be taught how to do some minor tweaks on the encyclopedia. We'll focus on:
- CAT:STYLE - we want to run our spell-check and grammar-check through some articles and see what we can achieve
- Special:NewPages - in due time, we'll move up to marking pages for deletion when they're vandalism
- WP:AFC - we will learn to review what should and shouldn't go on the encyclopedia and eventually learn when to approve or decline pages.
Students are being prepared...
[edit]...and introduced to some of the basics of Wikipedia. These "basics" will include:
- WP:NPOV - we write in a neutral mode; our emotions and opinions don't need to be here
- WP:BITE - we try our darndest not to YELL, SHOUT, curse at, or otherwise abuse of newcomers. We are newcomers ourselves.
- WP:SPAM - we are not here to spam the project, advertise ourselves or products; we're here to make it better
- WP:VAND - one thing we're really NOT here to do is vandalize! We will learn why it's bad and how it is dealt with on the encyclopedia
- WP:AUTOBIO - we love ourselves and each other, but we can't write about ourselves.
SomeMostNone of us arenotnotable enough to have our own biography here. - WP:LICENSE - this is everyone's encyclopedia, and no one's encyclopedia... our contributions are free content, and we do cannot claim ownership of anything here.
- WP:FAIRUSE - Google Images is awesome! But, most of its content can't be uploaded here, sorry.
- WP:CITE - Wikipedia is sometimes said to not be reliable; we strive to make sure everything we write isn't something we heard from someone else, or think is true. All of what we say, beyond arranging words per WP:MOS, must carry citations: reliable sources that back up what we say.
