Johnnyjoe23 (talk · contribs) - My name is Joey and I have been editing Wikipedia articles for over four years. During that period, I have created and edited several articles and templates for a variety of articles, especially those pertaining to the South Florida community. My numerous contributions demonstrate my dedication to maintaining the highest quality of articles available on the Internet.
Questions for the candidate
[edit]Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I will work to maintain articles and take the utmost care in insuring that the articles present the most accurate and factual information available on the Internet.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: My most substantial contributions would have to be those pertaining to the South Florida community, particularly the South Florida article that I began and worked on tirelessly, the One Life to Live page (and soap opera-related actors), and Miami-related pages such as the Miami-Dade Metrorail (and stations) and Miami-Dade Metromover (and stations).
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: When I initially began editing on Wikipedia in 2004, I had a conflict with one of the editors concerning the rights of copyrighted photos to be used on Wikipedia which stressed me out tremendously; after realizing the ins and outs of Wikipedia, we came to the resolution of using fair use photos instead. Since then, I have utilized talk pages to discuss article changes and the best resolutions for them, which saves me a great deal of strife :)
Optional question from xenocidic
- 4. As an administrator, you will come across some extremely vulgar language and often come under attack for your actions. You will most likely have to deal with some fairly troublesome users. The users you block will sometimes ask to be unblocked. Please review the very NSFW scenario outlined at User:Xenocidic/RFAQ and describe how you would respond to the IP's request to be unblocked.

[edit]- I do appreciate your desire to contribute to the project and willingness to help as an administrator - but I don't think you are ready yet. You don't indicate in what way you will contribute as an administrator, and the plethora of licensing issues on your talk page shows that you may want to become a little more familiarized with policies. I see practically no edit history in Wikipedia namespace to demonstrate a familiarity with policy and procedure, either. You've made many useful contributions to the project but I would suggest withdrawing this nomination until you've had a chance to better acquaint yourself with the duties of an administrator. - Weakly oppose. The lack of edit summary use, the talk page notes regarding non free images, and the total lack of any project space edits indicate that you probably are not likely to meet the communities current RFA standards. The pluses are a long term account, focused on quality content not whack-a-mole vandal fighting. The spirit of WP:DEAL says support, but I'm afraid I'd really need to see at least a modicum of evidence of working in admin areas, and more importantly better evidence of communication skills. Best wishes. Pedro : Chat 20:41, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- What Shereth. Also, your lack of edit summaries is really disturbing and is a sign of unfamiliarity with Wikipedia. I also would advise you to reconsider the nomination to make yourself familiar with the job that an admin has to do. But please do not regard this as criticism of your contributions and I think a new RfA in a few months will be much more positive if you consider above advice. SoWhy review me! 20:48, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- You said you plan to use the tools to give articles utmost care, you do not need admin tools for that. Good luck. :) <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 20:49, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Your answer to question one, along with just 12 Wikipedia-space edits point to a lack of knowledge of the role of an administrator and lack of experience in administrative areas such as WP:AfD. Before your next RfA (as you are a good content contributor, and I don't see why you can't make an excellent admin in the future), read the administrator's reading list, take part in some AfD discussions, maybe head over to the New Page Patrol and get experience with notability, deletion policy etc. Most of all though, take part in some RfA discussions so that you know what kind of things the community expects in a nomination and admins in general. Good luck in future, but WP:NOTNOW methinks.- Toon05 20:58, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
