Carterdriggs (talk · contribs) - I have been editing on WP since 2006 and love every bit of it! Lately (the last two months) I have found myself primarily rolling back (non-admin)vandalism and using various scripts to correct spelling and find recent vandals. I have also contributed heavily to suggesting the blocking of IP's who vandalize and warning all users who vandalize on their respective usertalk pages. I have many many pages I have monitored and requested deletion of according to WP policies that have been. I am a very active member of the welcoming committee as well and love taking part in monitoring new users. I am very familiar with WP policy and procedure and as such, am backed up whenever something controversial has happened (I.e. suggesting a page be protected). As I am mainly looking to make Wikipedia a better place to contribute to, your csincere consideration would be most appreciated! Thank you. Carter | Talk to me 05:38, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: I hereby withdraw my nomination and intend to apply next year, or at the end of the year after taking into consideration the suggestions made to me including contributing to AfD debates more which I have already started to do. Thanks again for your inputs! Carter | Talk to me 09:17, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Questions for the candidate
[edit]Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I intend to primarily work in the page protection, speedy deletion, user blocking, and continue in the new user and recent creations area to look for vandalism. Carter | Talk to me 05:47, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: Even though they seem minor to a lot of people, I feel that my contribution in the area of grammar correction and spelling are among some of my best. That's what makes WP a great place. Another area of contributions of mine I feel are great are the pages I have created myself. I feel they are substantive, and when nominated for deletion, I feel the case I presented was valid. As a constant monitor of vandalism, I feel my contributions to blocking ip vandals, and protecting pages are among the best. Ok enough about me here. Sorry about the four hundred answers to one quesiton. Carter | Talk to me 05:47, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I have, and I feel they were handled with dignity, integrity, and unbiased. I have been accused of POV edits before, as has everyone I'm sure, and have made sincere efforts to correct that about me. I now actively monitor POV disputes, and resolve them as I can on my talk page, and the talk pages of other users. I will continue to deal with conflicts as I do now, by appropriately warning the editor before taking any action. Carter | Talk to me 05:47, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Support
[edit]- Wouldn't let you go without moral support. It's really just too early to tell. I see that you have e.g. reported to AIV, and you have committed yourself to writing articles, both of which are absolutely positive things. So, keep it up, and nothing speaks against another RfA in two or three months time. — Dorftrottel 09:11, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose
[edit]- Most Reluctant Oppose - I have to just say that you need more experience. It is recently that you got involved in the major parts of wikipedia, and I don't think you've got enough knowledge (or at least shown) of the policies. Come back in a couple of months with more activity in WP:XFD writing articles, and I'll give you my support. Good luck next time! --Hirohisat 紅葉 05:57, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak Oppose - I have to agree with Hirohisat at this point in time - you don't have the experience yet. Participate more in the cleanup and production of the encyclopedia and request again in a few months time. You'll breeze through the RfA then. Have a nice day! — E talkbots 06:01, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you both for your opinions! I'll definitely spend time in those areas! I appreciate your future support! Carter | Talk to me 06:07, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak Oppose I enjoy your enthusiasm, and am glad that you are having fun while editing. However I agree with Hirohisat that you do need a bit more experience in Wikipedia policies and would support you down the track. Phgao 06:23, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose due to inexperience. Daniel 07:49, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose You only started editing extensively in September of this year. Moreover, you only have about 1,600 edits to show for. Although I admire your enthusiasm, you lack experience. Continue doing some good work in this project and I will be happy to give my support in a few months time. --Siva1979Talk to me 08:43, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose, sry. This candidate started contributing in a serious scale just one month ago. Sry, but this is insufficient for making a judgment. Looking at the contribs, I see lots of corrections of this editors own contributions, showing that he is still very much in the learning phase. The number of edits may be impressive at first sight, but the bunk are copy/paste warnings on user pages, welcome messages, and those corrections I already mentioned. On the positive side, I see here a candidate with lots of potential, who might become a valuable admin next year. But right now this is a snowball nom. Oh, and one other point, grammar and spelling correction is important (especially regarding contribs of users like me :D), but that's certainly NOT what makes WP great, ok? Gray62 09:03, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I agree, and appreciate your comment. I'll be withdrawing my nomination and fully intend to renominate next year. Thanks again. Carter | Talk to me 09:07, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral
[edit]- Neutral, suggest withdrawal - More experience required. Get involved with vandalism reverting, WikiProjects, improving articles, and try again in several months. Miranda 07:30, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Most of what I do is vandalism reversion. Carter | Talk to me 07:42, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
