Nomination by Diligent Terrier - As a diligent editor, Basketball110 is involved in all areas of Wikipedia. He has in total, 11,200 (non-deleted) edits, and has been a member of Wikipedia since early November. He has created articles (lots of them!), and greatly improved many others (see his userpage). Vandals don't like him, either, if you know what I mean. :) He has done a lot of work to improve several WikiProjects, mainly basketball related, but also WikiProject Arkansas and WikiProject Dallas-Fort Worth ... and he has started newsletters for many of them. In addition to having accounts on many of the other Wikimedia Foundation websites, he also participates in administrative related areas, like WP:XfD, and has adopted 5 users through the adopt-a-user program. To sum all of this up, Basketball110's latest editor review shows only positive reviews. For all of these reasons, I know Basketball110 would make a great admin. Please support him for adminship. Cheers! - DiligentTerrier (and friends) 12:26, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate
[edit]Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I will take part of most any admin
workhobby, whether it be blocking a without-guidance user, or deleting a speedy nominated page (or one from WP:XfD). I will, however, be careful who I block, and for how long. I believe that everyone should have some chances. Despite that, if the vandal is like Cute 1 4 u, then they probably need indef block.
- A: I will take part of most any admin
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I have had one or two conflicts in the past which I do not believe I acted as I should have. I was very stubborn, and I suppose I thought that only I could be right. In the future, I plan not to be such an ass (donkey-wise), and to solve the problem, not cause it.

Oppose
[edit]- Strong Oppose Per past socking, behavior at the cabal debate, and general lack of understanding of WP's workings. MBisanz talk 16:51, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- May I ask what behavior at the cabal debate? And as to the socking, I have promised not to do that again. If User:east718 hadn't have believed me, then I'd be blocked forever. Basketball110 My story/Tell me yours 16:53, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Like I said then, I would've banned, East718 was nice and didn't. And I'll note that thread was started by you over the general cabal/myspace incident. MBisanz talk 16:56, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Socking == Fail at RfA. Nick (talk) 16:55, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose: Per the above. We've seen what happens when Basketball110 'loses his cool'; I'd hate to see what the administrator Basketball110 does if he 'loses his cool'. - Rjd0060 (talk) 16:57, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I think that I have learned how to control my "grapes." They haven't gotten out of control for about a month. Basketball110 My story/Tell me yours 17:00, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I'd be looking for 6 months to a year, not just a month of control, plus cast iron evidence that you're not socking, before I would consider supporting, FYI. Nick (talk) 17:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Could you clarify about "cast iron evidence?" Basketball110 My story/Tell me yours 17:05, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Yeah, a month isn't going to cut it. - Rjd0060 (talk) 17:05, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose. We need to see that you can handle the stress of adminship. Right now, I'm not seeing it. Sorry, Malinaccier (talk) 16:59, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose. No more puppetmaster admins, please. :/ krimpet✽ 17:04, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose My general sense of the candidate, whom I have had occasion to observe from time to time, is that he is not always possessed of the sound judgment that well commends one to adminship, and I am altogether unable to conclude with confidence that the net effect on the project of his being sysop(p)ed should be positive. - Socking, poor answers. Rudget (Help?) 17:11, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral
[edit]- Refraining from opposing due to the inevitable pile on, I'll just note that I'd expect to see a much more convincing answer to Q2 with evidence of a bigger effort to improve the mainspace should you ever run for adminship again. -- Naerii 17:00, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
