Wikipedia:Requests for deletion

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If you think a page should be deleted, read the deletion policy to make sure.
Then follow these instructions on how to request a page for deletion. To find more information on what discussed deletions and quick deletions are:
PLEASE READ THIS

Before nominating: checks and alternatives

[change source]

Prior to nominating article(s) for deletion, please be sure to:

A. Read and understand these policies and guidelines
  1. The Wikipedia deletion policy, which explains valid grounds for deletion.
  2. The main four guidelines and policies that inform deletion discussions: notability (WP:N), verifiability (WP:V), reliable sources (WP:RS), and what Wikipedia is not (WP:NOT)
  3. Subject-specific notability guidelines, which can be found at Category:Wikipedia notability guidelines
B. Carry out these checks
  1. Confirm that the article does not meet the criteria for quick deletion.
  2. If there are verifiability, notability or other sourcing concerns, take reasonable steps to search for reliable sources. (See step D.)
  3. Review the article's history to check for potential vandalism or poor editing.
  4. Read the article's talk page for previous nominations and/or that your objections haven't already been dealt with.
  5. Check "What links here" in the article's sidebar, to see how the page is used and referenced within Wikipedia.
  6. Check if there are interlanguage links, also in the sidebar, which may lead to more developed and better sourced articles. Likewise, search for native-language sources if the subject has a name in a non-Latin alphabet (such as Japanese or Greek), which is often in the lead.
C. Consider whether the article could be improved rather than deleted
  1. If the article can be fixed through normal editing, then it is not a candidate for RfD.
  2. If the article was recently created, please consider allowing the contributors more time to develop the article.
  3. If an article has issues try first raising your concerns on the article's talk page, with the main contributors, and/or adding a cleanup tag, such as {{notability}}, {{hoax}}, {{original research}}, or {{advert}}; this ensures readers are aware of the problem and may act to fix it.
  4. If the topic is not important enough to merit an article on its own, consider merging or redirecting to an existing article. This should be done particularly if the topic name is a likely search term.
D. Search for additional sources, if the main concern is notability
  1. The minimum search expected is a normal Google search, a Google Books search, a Google News search, and a Google News archive search; Google Scholar is suggested for academic subjects.
  2. If you find a lack of sources, you've completed basic due diligence before nominating. However, if a quick search does find sources, this does not always mean an RfD on a sourcing basis is unwarranted. If you spend more time examining the sources, and determine that they are insufficient, e.g., because they only contain passing mention of the topic, then an RfD nomination may still be appropriate.
  3. If you find that adequate sources do appear to exist, the fact that they are not yet present in the article is not a proper basis for a nomination. Instead, you should consider citing the sources, or at minimum apply an appropriate template to the page that flags the sourcing concern. Common templates include {{unreferenced}}, {{refimprove}}, {{third-party}}, {{primary sources}} and {{one source}}.

Discussed deletion

[change source]
Put the deletion tag on the article.
  1. Click "Change source" at the top of the page to be deleted.
  2. In the edit box, add this tag: {{rfd|REASON}}. Put it at the top of the page, above the rest of the text. Then, replace the text "REASON" with a short reason why the page should be deleted. Do not be too specific here. You can add more details on the discussion page (see below).
    • It is a good idea to write a change summary to let others know what you are doing. You can say "nominating for deletion", "requesting deletion", or something like that.
  3. Click "Save changes" at the bottom to save the page with the deletion tag at the top.
    • You can also check the "Watch this page" check box to add the page to your watchlist. This lets you know if the page for deletion has been changed. If the deletion tag is removed any time before the discussion is closed, it should be put back.
Create a discussion page.
  1. If the deletion tag has been added to the page, a box should appear at the top of the article with a link saying "Click here to create a discussion page!" Click that link.
  2. You should be taken to a page starting with "Creating Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/..." along with the current year and the name of the article to be deleted. In the edit box, the following tag should have already been added: {{RfD/Preload/Template}} . Replace the text PLACE REASON HERE with a more detailed reason why the page should be deleted.
    • It is helpful to include links to the various policy pages about Wikipedia (that begin with Wikipedia:). Here are some examples of this: "This article is [[Wikipedia:COMPLEX|not easy to understand]]" or "Not a [[Wikipedia:notable|notable]] topic''. This will make others more aware of why the page is not acceptable under Wikipedia's policies.
  3. Click "Save changes" to save the new discussion page when you are done.
    • A change summary you can write for this page is "creating discussion page", "starting deletion discussion", or something like that.
    • As with the page for deletion, you can check the "Watch the page" box. This will let you know if someone else has replied to your discussion.
List it here
  1. Copy the title of the discussion page to the clipboard. You can do this by dragging the mouse over the text from "Wikipedia" to the end of the page title to highlight it, then right-clicking and selecting "Copy".
  2. Go to the list of deletion requests, and click "change source" beside the words "Current deletion request discussions".
  3. At the top of the list of discussions, paste the title from the clipboard (right-click and select "Paste"). Add a pair of curly brackets before and after the title to make a template that will copy the content of the discussion page onto the main deletion page, like this:
    {{Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/(name of page to be deleted)}}
  4. Finally, click "Save changes" to add the discussion to the list. If the page saves successfully, you should see your deletion discussion at the top of the list. And that's it!

If this is too complicated for you, there are some gadgets like Twinkle that you can use. This allows you to do it faster.

Quick deletion

[change source]

If you think a page has nonsense content, add {{non}} to the top of the page.

If you think a page does not say why the subject is important, add {{notable}} to the top of the page.

If you think a page should be deleted per other quick deletion rules, add {{QD|reason}} to the top of the page.

Notifying the user

[change source]

Generally, you should try to be civil and tell the user that created the page to join the discussion talking about the page. This can be done by adding {{subst:RFDNote|page to be deleted}} ~~~~ to the bottom of their talkpage.

Discussions

[change source]
  • The discussion is not a vote. Please make suggestions on what action to take, and support your suggestion with reasons.
  • Please look at the article before you make a suggestion. Do not make an opinion using only the information given by the nominator. Looking at the history of the article may help to understand the situation.
  • Please read other comments and suggestions. They may have helpful information.
  • Start your comments or suggestions on a new line. Start with * and sign after your comment by adding ~~~~ to the end. If you are responding to another editor, put your comment directly below theirs and make sure your comment is indented (using more than one *).
  • New users can make suggestions, but their ideas may not be considered, especially if the suggestion seems to be made in bad faith. The opinion of users who had an account before the start of the request may be given more weight or importance.
  • Suggestions by users using "sock puppets" (more than one account belonging to the same person) will not be counted.
  • Please make only one suggestion. If you change your mind, change your first idea instead of adding a new one. The best way to do this is to put <s> before your old idea and </s> after it. For example, if you wanted to delete an article but now think it should be kept, you could put: "Delete keep".
  • If you would like an article to be kept, you can improve the article and try to fix the problems given in the request for deletion. If the reasons given in the nomination are fixed by changing, the nomination can be withdrawn by the nominator, and the deletion discussion will be closed by an administrator.
  • Try to avoid confusing suggestions, such as delete and merge.
  • Requests for deletion is not a war zone. You can click here for more information, although the page is not in Simple English.

Remember: You do not have to make a suggestion for every nomination. You should think about not making a suggestion if:

  1. A nomination involves a topic that you do not know much about.
  2. Everyone has made the same suggestion and you agree with that suggestion.
  • All times are in UTC.

BlackJack has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: This is a very minor variant of cricket that has little credibility, and could reasonably be called a "passing fad". If it should ever take off and stage professional tournaments, the article can be recreated. As things are now, the article has little if any potential for development. Keep — This article should not be deleted. It was already reviewed and renamed by an experienced admin (Fehufanga), which shows that the subject passed the basic checks for notability and clarity. The delete tag was later added by a new user who may not have seen that the page was already approved.

Roshan Shrestha is a well-known journalist and media founder in Nepal. He runs a registered news platform (Khoj Samachar) and has been covered by several national-level independent news outlets like News24 Nepal, and RatoPati News, Sidhakura. He also has a verified mobile app available on both Android and iOS.

The article is written in a neutral tone and includes strong sources. I believe it clearly meets the notability guidelines for people (WP:NPERSON). Deleting it without considering these facts would not be fair.--Factnepal (talk) 17:31, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Fehufanga? TagUser (talk) 17:35, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Adding one more point to support the article.

In May 2025, the Roshan Shrestha mobile app reached #5 in Nepal under the "News & Magazines – Top Free" category on Similarweb. It was listed along with well-known apps like X (Twitter), Aaj Tak, Dainik Bhaskar, and BBC News Hindi. This shows the subject’s digital reach and public recognition in Nepal’s media space.[1]

QuantumFoam66 has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: As a category that doesn't exist on English Wikipedia (and never did in the first place), this category raises various concerns (at least to me), and you should think about it instead of simply deciding to oppose this request. We have a category but not a main article titled Whedonverse. Also, on English Wikipedia "Whedonverse" is a redirect to "Buffyverse". The more important concern I have is the fact we have added pages about the well, actors and actresses who worked for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and other shows here. What's bad about this is we usually don't categorize this way (i.e. the Star Wars category does not contain the articles about the actors, directors and more for it). Template:This date in recent years

[change source]
Template:This date in recent years (edit · talk · history · links · watch · logs · delete) · close request

Auntof6 has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: Nominating a template that I don't think will serve us well here. The template has been added to a dozen or so "<month> <day>" articles (for example, April 15). Here is what you see on the pages:

  • The template adds a sidebar that has a heading of, for example, "April 15 in recent years".
  • The sidebar has links such as "2025 (Tuesday)", "2024 (Monday)", etc. (Most of the links are currently still red because the template is being adapted from enwiki, which uses it differently.)
  • You would expect the link that says "2025 (Tuesday)" to link to "April 15, 2025". However, we don't have articles for individual days like that. Instead, as an example, the one blue link on April 15 is April 2025, which redirects to the April events section of 2025 (because we also don't have articles at the month/year level).
  • OK, so you would expect to find something there, but no. There doesn't happen to be anything in 2025 for April 15. Our year articles don't all have something for every day of the year.

The enwiki version of this template probably works well there because enwiki probably has stuff for every day of the year. We don't. For this template to be useful here, we would need redirect pages for every month/year combination (at least those within the last 10 years), and to create them for future months as time passes. I don't think we need that maintenance task, so I propose removing this template from pages that currently use it, and deleting the template, its subpages, the redirects that were created to support it (such as April 25), and the page that redirects to it. Auntof6 (talk) 12:59, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Comment: It looks like an IP has added the template to the remaining month/day articles. If this RFD passes, it would be simple to automate removing it using AWB. If the closing admin would like me to take care of that (again, if the RFD passes), feel free to ask. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:24, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Devan Leos (3rd nomination)

[change source]
Devan Leos (edit · talk · history · links · watch · logs · delete) · close request

Davey2010 has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: Non notable actor, Cannot find any evidence of any notability,

Has been in 1 movie and 3 TV shows - one tv show was a regular role (44 eps) and the rest are one-bit parts. Majority of sources are either GOSSIP, TABLOID or simply LOCALCOVERAGE.

Given they've not been multiple roles (and 44 eps isn't really much to brag about) I would still say this fails en:NACTOR and en:GNG.

He was also charged with attempted murder but again no notability around that either so fails en:WP:PERP too,

For full transparency this article was RFD'd by someone else at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2025/Devan Leos (2nd nomination) and that was overturned at DRV[1] primarily because the RFD was closed as SOFTDELETE, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 09:54, 8 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss this request below, but keep in mind that you shouldn't vote on everything and that there may be options other than "keep" or "delete", such as merging.

  • Speedy Keep As stated here, Leos had numerous big roles. Let's fact check the nominators claims: "Has been in 1 movie and 3 TV shows"
According to Leos's IMDB page he's been in:
1. Life Happens (Movie)
2. Grave Secrets (movie)
3. Dream Cleaners (movie)
4. Madeas Witness Protection (movie)
5. The Pretty One (movie)
^That's 5 movies
As for TV Shows:
1. Mighty Med (TV show)
2. Criminal Minds (TV Show)
3. ICarly (TV Show)
4.Guliver Quinn (TV show)
5.Deadtime Stories (TV short)
6. The Middle (TV series) 7. Jessie (2011 TV series)
8. Austin and Alley (TV show)
9. Marvin Marvin (TV Show)
^That's 9 TV shows
Leos was also in Final Fantasy
"One tv show was a regular role (44 eps) and the rest are one-bit parts."
^False
Leos played the brother of Trish (the lead role) in Austin and Alley, starring in multiple episodes. Leos also played Henry in Multiple episodes across four seasons in The Middle
Additionally, in Madeas Witness Protection, Leos played the co-starring main role. Not only that, but out of 13 Madea movies, Witness Protection is the 4th highest grossing one.
"Majority of sources are either GOSSIP, TABLOID or simply LOCALCOVERAGE"
There are 16 sources. The only Tabloid sources I see are:
  1. Radar online (Gossip-y but does indicate notability)
  2. TMZ (maybe) ^only 2 These sources are particularly compelling: 1. Ok Magazine (Entertainment News site) [1] 2. Newsweek (widely read national digital news publication) [2] 3. SF Weekly (Technically local) [3] 4. Distractify (US publication with international reach) [x] These sources also demonstrate notability and credibility: 1. Grit Daily [4] 2. The Observer [5] The other sources aren't AS strong, but still show notability and pass WP:GNG . They don't seem to be passing mentions, and one even article covers an award he received. The fact that Leos was the main star of a popular Disney show is arguably notable in itself. Factor in that he also founded a notable AI company, AFTER "He was also charged with attempted murder" is not only notable, but remarkable. I mean regardless of the details, this guy was charged with attempted murder, and instead of continuing to be bad, he completely turned his life around. Let's not forget that being branded as a murderer likely (significantly) lowers the probability of career opportunities, growth, and success. To me this seems like an Iron clad case of notability. There's substance to this subject, and I may be biased because I watched him as a kid, but out of everyone on that show, this guy's story strikes me as the most profound and noteworthy. Ask yourself this: If you described this subjects life in detail to your mother (or anyone) who knows nothing about celebs, based on this page, and then asked "Do you think that person sounds notable?" they'd most likely say yes. Notability ≠ fame (Per WP:GNG). Side note: The consistent pattern of people nominating this subject without even doing research is troubling (e.g. nomination 2 stating "only see one major television role, nothing else", and nominator 3 also being completely wrong and mistaken about the number of movies and TV shows the subject's been in)

WP:NACTOR states the following can qualify notability:

    1. Has had important roles in several notable movies, television shows, stage performances, or other productions: (a) Madea's Witness Protection (co star) (b) Mighty Med (star) (c)The Middle (recurring role)
    2. Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following. (He has 1M+ followers on Instagram)
Scripfowl (talk) 04:02, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies he has indeed been in more than 4 movies/shows however with the exception of Mighty Med these were all still 2-bit roles, The cites you list are all GOSSIP/TABLOID or LOCAL, I'm not seeing anything substantial here,
Personally I don't believe Instagram is a fan base per se as new accounts mass-follow people in order to lift restrictions etc, They've only had one notable role so imho still fails NACTOR,
All in all I'm not seeing any notability here, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 09:53, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep Im the creator of this page. I agree with @Scripfowl's arguments.... Devan played a very notable role in Mighty Med, AND in Austin and Alley AND in Madea. The article needs to be updated and improved, not deleted....

Not to BLUDGEON the discussion but strictly speaking the ending to your rationale is incorrect as this isn't a nomination based on AI slop or grammatical errors (either of which can be fixed), this is based on notability (which can and can't be improved/fixed). We can't make someone notable if they're not notable is what I'm getting at (although I'm aware you think he's notable and that's fine, he may well be notable and I may be wrong) –Davey2010Talk 17:13, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I added some additional sources. (one that shows he's the only former Disney actor to have been charged with attempted murder) Ok Magazine seems really strong. I think this subject is definitely notable, but if theres issue with amount of sources, it seems possible more sources covering him will emerge, and that it's not a notability issue? Maybe I'm wrong... but as @Scripfowl pointed out in their argument according to WP:NACTOR it seems a pass... @Davey2010 do you have an argument for how he doesnt pass NP:ACTOR? Wouldn't the Tyler Perry movie, The Middle, and Mighty Med shows at least count? Also, with him developing an new AI technology, that seems to be the first of it's kind, and recognized for it, I do think thats worth consideration. The film industry is anti-AI so its certainly interesting.

  • The premise of the AI point is not quite true. Undetectable.ai competes in a crowded field of start-ups with similar products, similar coverage in the media, and similar claimed user-base sizes. AI detection has existed for as long as generative AI has been popular. Finally, the subject is a chief communications officer. The notion that he has "developed a new AI technology" is a stretch and the extent of his contributions beyond being a founder is essentially unverified anywhere the company has been discussed. Hiàn 01:22, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as many passing mentions in minor sources. The Newsweek one appears major, but does not support the linked passage in this wiki's article. It's just puffery and Newsweek has seen better days. May not even be a major periodical any longer. --Gotanda (talk) 23:44, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Delete. I've been quite clear previously (at the 2nd RfD and at the deletion review) that I do not regard the subject as satisfying WP:NACTOR nor WP:NBUSINESSPEOPLE. The contributors to this article (as argued above) seem to be arguing notability on the basis of minor extra-level or 1-time roles in major television shows. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of WP:NACTOR, which requires important roles in major shows/movies. As it stands, the subject simply does not meet the threshold of notability for WP:NACTOR, despite the contributors' best attempts to misinterpret the guidelines.
I'll also briefly discuss the business and AI. I have maintained that the subject is not notable on the basis of the business. This much is clear - Undetectable.ai is not a particularly big fish in AI. As we've seen argued in some of the discussions, I assert that involvement in this field does not grant inherent notability. We cannot judge notability on the basis of being involved in some "novel" technology, because the subject has made few verifiable notable contributions to this field. Being a chief communications officer is a weak claim, at best. Finally, the contribution of AI detection companies like GPTZero and Undetectable.ai to AI ethics is insignificant at best. Discussion is now mostly about the subject's pivot to AI. This is a more compelling point, and if WP:NACTOR is sufficiently satisfied, then there may be a case there. But as it stands, WP:NACTOR is not, and so this point does not help the subject's case. Hiàn 02:04, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's a really slanted representation---and not true. He had leading roles in Madea, Mighty Med, and Austin and Alley. Not "minor extra-level or 1-time roles in major television shows" he was in Austin and Alley twice as a main character, the Middle he was in four times, Mighty Med he was the star of, and he was also the co-star in Madea Witness Protection. These alone grant NACTOR.
Did you even do a real review? By your definition, he fits NACTOR. What roles did you think were one-off? Scripfowl (talk) 00:49, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Forgive me, if the article is anything to go by, Austin and Ally is a two-off role. You got me there! Hiàn 01:57, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
On a more serious note, I still think you're misinterpreting the guideline. No one is disputing the subject's role in Mighty Med. That is indeed an "important" role in a "major" show. The Madea role is not a co-star role, as claimed (are we taking the conventional understanding of what "starring" in a show/movie means?). Even if we included it in the final count, this is not "several" roles of note. And finally, we're looking for "important" roles. For a television show, such a role might be one of sustained importance, not a important role in 2 episodes of a 4 season, 87 episode show (for Austin and Ally) nor 4 episodes of a 9 season, 215 episode show (in The Middle). In these two cases, I think your argument is a stretch. Please rest assured, I've done my best to thoughtfully review the article, and would not be here if I believed there was a strong case for notability. Hiàn 02:13, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep

I have researched this subject pretty thoroughly and believe they fit within notability guidelines. After removing genuine one liner name-drops, the article still rests on (a) starring roles that unambiguously meets WP:NACTOR and (b) several high-quality, independent RS that pass WP:GNG. Deletion would therefore conflict with core inclusion policy; so as another mentioned, the correct course is cleanup not removal. However:

I think it’s fair to do a proper review. First, the subject did indeed star as an important and non trivial role in Madea's Witness Protection (as mentioned by other editors, this was in fact a significant and notable film, and Leos played a main character) also Leos is billed as one of five principals in the 44 episode Disney XD series Mighty Med (2013–15); Disney-owned, nationally broadcast covered in trades that alone triggers the important-roles presumption in WP:NACTOR. Then we have multiple independent RS give non-trivial coverage: Observer long-form (2024), Newsweek feature (2024), TheWrap renewal story (2014) plus regional daily SCV Signal. That comfortably clears WP:GNG (“several” independent, reliable, secondary sources of significant depth). Even if one discounts the AI startup angle entirely, the acting criterion stands; the startup coverage merely strengthens notability. Any tabloid or trivial refs can be pruned per WP:UNDUE without endangering compliance.

TheTakoDread (talk) 18:15, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comment. Notability and the sources have been discussed at length above, so I won't rehash the arguments. I did want to examine the Newsweek source in more detail.
  • First, there is a general consensus at enwiki that the reliability of Newsweek is not assured for articles published after 2013. Note that this is not a silver bullet and articles still ought to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Second, let's note that the article specifically notes a "recent BBC interview" (relative to the article's publication in October 2024). There is no evidence of such an interview even existing. The last public interview Musk did with the BBC was in April 2023, and there was (to the extent that I've skimmed the transcript) no mention of AI, certainly no specific mention of Undetectable.ai (the timeline doesn't fit anyways).
  • Aside: I would love to be proved wrong on this one. I've searched for other sources that could've possibly attested to Musk speaking about Undetectable.ai or the subject. I've searched for sources where Musk discussed AI in higher education. I've searched for sources that have attested to this supposed BBC interview in 2024. All of this has turned up nothing.
  • Third, the linked video is a dead link. For news sources, this is ordinarily not a problem, but in this case it needs more attention. The video page (not the video itself) was archived at the Internet Archive, with the title "Elon Musk FIRES BACK At Reporter In NEW INTENSE Interview! (2024)". This is trivially neither an official BBC source, nor the work of a reputable source. A quick search shows that this may be the video the article is referencing (same title), which also makes no mention of Undetectable.ai.
  • Finally, even if we considered the article at face value, it is wholly inconsistent with itself. It claims in the headline that Musk has praised the subject directly, but then makes no mention of the praise in the article body. All I see is praise of the company itself, which we cannot infer is praise of the subject. This is clickbait at best, and misinformation at worst. In either case, I think we can agree that this doesn't constitute a source of "significant depth" (WP:GNG).
In light of this, I move that the Newsweek reference not be considered reliable in the context of this RfD. Hiàn 00:43, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I actually find the article from The Santa Clarita Valley Signal quite interesting. Perhaps it is worth some thought as well.
  • First, The Signal does considerable paid advertising alongside its news content (consider this sample page of results and this obvious but undisclosed advertisement that was linked on the front page).
  • Second, the author of the article is a "jhilton". I think the articles published by this author speak for themselves (really! If you're passing by, take a look and judge whether these are suitable for inclusion). And unlike The Signal's news articles, the article about the subject comes with a disclaimer: "DISCLAIMER: No part of the article was written by The Signal editorial staff." Enough said.
In light of this, I move that The Signal reference also not be considered reliable. It reads much like a tabloid advertisement anyways, so I'd hope this makes the decision clearer. This gets us down to 2 sources that we can consider reliable. That is by no means a comfortable satisfaction of WP:GNG, and I would say it is a stretch altogether to say it is even borderline. Auntof6 has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: Nominating two navigational box templates that have either one or no blue links for the topics they are supposed to navigate. The job of a navigational box is to allow users to navigate between related pages. Without more than one article to navigate, the template can't do that job.

  • Voting support (Auntof6 has nominated this page for deletion) reason: RfD/voting this page for deletion to merge the template that is better. There would be no use having two of the same template (I thought this was a different template with the same name from backlog). RfD/support (voting yes) and cooperating because I hope that another editor can find such template on en. Wiki (it is *named similarly and *has another box (the heading/cat that "Adnexa, Globe is in)" for Lacrimal Pupil Cornea Iris retina having their own boxes in that style (on the 2nd heading). There were at least three links in these h2 boxes and whether they are blue links or can be on backlog to be made would be very useful and aesthetic.

I vote that we keep and simply try to populate empty navboxes, and have something like popcat for navboxes sitewide. It is not impossible to do and if you give me time I will get it done (for example the infectious eye diseases box has is on my to-do list/backlog to do for the three main categories on it. The three types of eyes. This leads into a bunch of other things that you just have to trust me on like idk meningitis.
If we start deleting boxes that are empty then we delete a lot of the Wiki. But do whatever you want, I do not care and in 5 minutes you will find something else to ping me about to delete something that I have worked on or made (these things are actually copied from en. Wiki). { Catcus DeMeowwy (talk) | User_talk:Catcus DeMeowwy 11:10, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is not starting to delete navboxes that don't have enough blue links. That is often done. It is not the same as categories that have too few entries. Underpopulated categories can still do their job of helping people find things. Navboxes without multiple relevant blue links can't do the job of a navbox. -- Auntof6 (talk) 12:51, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Would like a pause on the deletion of (the) infectious diseases template/navbox, so that I can populate it with blue links. I think these links are pretty valuable for the wiki and would like to volunteer to translate them to here. The template only serves a purpose if the articles already exist. I'd oppose keeping a template because of what might happen in the future. If/when enough articles exist, it would be easy enough to restore the template. -- Auntof6 (talk) 23:03, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Let me know if there are any problems with cats also (such as in catː Occupational diseases), and I can try to popcat some of them { Catcus DeMeowwy (talk) | User_talk:Catcus DeMeowwy 04:14, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Just to say also that I am caring less with each day - and I do not know if it is intentional (why you are doing it) but I am really starting to care less. I think it is less about an "empty template" (not like there is scarcity) and just something else for you to pull me up about as there are many things as your thing is constant and unrelenting. It is rapidly approaching the point where I say you go back to deleting the pages I made whenever you feel like it and without warning (not like I change the outcome anyway). And I would like to say - again - that it is every day, multiple times a day. ALL THE TIME I have to stop what I am doing because I get an alert like this, where you want to do something like this. Maybe if you left me to it more I would get things done

Furthermore, just to let @Auntof6 know, that this template (in chars) is actually smaller than the last topic they created on my talk page - by 7k chars. It could even be populated by people going to the page and creating articles from red links, but would like to see this over with quickly, because as it stands right now all the articles (that actually exist) using the navbox/template are probably RfD right now

Wrong. Your undo brought my attention to the article and then made me wonder whether this song was notable or not which is why I went searching and then nominated the article for deletion when I found out it wasn't.
"Nowhere in other language project any user proposed such "approach" to this article" - Again that's because those projects are less-moderated / more lax than here and or the English Wikipedia. Had you created this at the English Wikipedia it would've gone the same way, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 11:28, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • German, French, and Russian projects are less-moderated? Well, try to do the same within one of those three projects, and we will see your results. --Tamtam90 (talk) 11:36, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is a traditional folk song, both in Russia and Ukraine, in both languages (first published in 19 century). How may you dare to speak of its importance or notability, having no experience with that stuff? --Tamtam90 (talk) 11:41, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'll save you the bother of searching my edits; Some projects don't have an AFD procedure at all (some have an importance tag and that's it) and those that do have an AFD procedure I've been reverted on (still have no idea why) - I will happily tell you my record with AFD/CSD on those projects is exceptionally poor because of the aforementioned reasons above. My record here and on the English Wikipedia on the other hand is great.
Editors don't need experience in a topic to determine whether it's notable or not. Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:06, 26 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Simple medical terms (edit · talk · history · links · watch · logs · delete) · close request

Auntof6 has nominated this page for deletion for the reason: I don't think this category is helpful for the following reasons:

  • It's not clear what should go here and not in the parent category Category:Medical terms. I asked the creator to add a description to the category, but I don't it describes anything we need a separate category for.
  • Even if what should go here was clear, I don't think we need separate categories. There is no meaningful difference between the terms here and the terms in the parent category.

Discussion

  • It would be a shame for this to be deleted (in my opinion). It could help navigate medical terms by what is simple.
The cat could also be there to be populated by the list of terms in the template used on Signs and symptoms, a key article for the medicine-related articles on the Wiki, under "basic medical terms used to describe disease conditions." in the template:Medical_terms_to_describe_disease_conditions - by this I mean that "what could go in the cat" is:
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Syndrome
  • Disease
  • Medical diagnosis
  • Differential diagnosis
  • Prognosis
  • Acute
  • Chronic
  • Cure
  • Eponymous disease
  • Acronym or abbreviation
  • Remission
Which is a fair amount of articles (to popcat).
sig: { Catcus DeMeowwy (talk) | User_talk:Catcus DeMeowwy 00:24, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Further comment: if it was a protected or semi-protected cat, then it could be made, populated (even though population is not the concern - there is a list of terms that can go in there if wanted), and forgotten about. In the case of the template that it is related to (medical terms used to describe disease and conditions) is edited, and the cat needs changing, it can be done with notifications on for the template.
