The result of the discussion was Speedy keep: MfD is not for policy changes. Kotniski (talk) 09:12, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
This policy is largely redundant with other policies and is an excellent example of instruction creep. What problems does its existence actually solve? What unique value does it add to our already over-long list of policies? As it is, when boiled down to its essentials, just a long summary of other pages, if we delete it this will have no ill consequences and merely simplify things. --Tim Vickers (talk) 03:32, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- Comment: It's hardly creep when its existed since 2004... --Izno (talk) 04:01, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- However old it is, would you actually miss it if it wasn't there? Tim Vickers (talk) 04:12, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- Speedy Keep: This is the parent page. Very useful! Acps110 (talk • contribs) 04:29, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- Exactly what non-redundant uses does it have? Tim Vickers (talk) 04:30, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmm...interesting. I have not seen this page before. I am in two minds about it. I wonder whether a merge to Wikipedia:How to edit a page might be in order to streamline things. Are there any other editing policy pages similar I wonder. Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:58, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- Speedy keep. We don't delete, or even debate, long standing policy pages at MfD. On the talk page, with consensus, you can have it tagged {{historical}} or redirected somewhere. If you can't get consensus, call and RFC and/or go to the Wikipedia:Village pump (policy). I am quite surpised to see Tim make this nomination. It is almost always considered pointy. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 05:00, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- I would have thought such a page, then, should be on some link from one of the introduction pages - there is no link to it on Wikipedia:Introduction 2 or indeed Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/Welcome to Wikipedia, or even Wikipedia:Tutorial (Editing) which would be three good places for it.
