Transferring nomination incorrectly placed at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2010 January 24#Template:User unicode. Userboxes are supposed to be discussed at MFD. Comments already made in the TFD discussion, including the original nomination statement by Koavf (talk · contribs), are reproduced below. RL0919 (talk) 00:23, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Template:User unicode (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Deprecated template asking users to switch to deleted alternatives. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 02:15, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- Could you explain to me the benefit you get by deleting this template? babbage (talk) 04:26, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- Comment It serves no purpose, so having it serves no purpose as well. Deleting it keeps it from being used somewhere on Wikipedia while it's deprecated. If you think it should be retained even though it's deleted, there is a template to put that text on the template itself. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 04:45, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- Comment By that reasoning you should go ahead and remove all the purposeless templates in use on your user page. Does the world need to know your opinion on the serial comma? No, but it doesn't hurt anyone either. What's the big deal that I have a freakin Unicode template? Sheesh. babbage (talk) 06:50, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- Response That template isn't deprecated. What is the point of deprecating a template, if it's just used anyway? —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 08:12, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

- Keep Saying people should not just say "fan" but indicate level of expertise is a meaningless exercise for what is, in the end, a userbox. Which do not even have to be necessary nor meaningful. Collect (talk) 13:42, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- It is not useful to know that someone is a fan of unicode, so delete or userfy (see Wikipedia:Userbox migration and Wikipedia:Userboxes#Which namespace?) if the creator wants it. –Black Falcon (talk) 19:06, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Keep - let's show some understanding and avoid disruption. Racepacket (talk) 15:20, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
