Template:User time zone editnotice

Editnotice created in late 2021 with no apparent adoption, unless searching doesn't find uses of editnotices. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:09, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. I created this template as a copy of Enterprisey's personal template per here. I didn't go to any special effort to promote it, so it's not surprising it hasn't been discovered yet, but it's properly categorized and fully discoverable for the future. WP:TFD#REASONS #3, which is what you're alluding to in your nomination, states The template is not used, either directly or by template substitution (the latter cannot be concluded from the absence of backlinks), and has no likelihood of being used. The emphasis there is original, and was presumably added for a reason. The nomination provides no argument for why this has no likelihood of being used—to the contrary, I think the potential use is quite clear—so I see no cause for deletion. {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 16:39, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per nom. There's no reason to expect people other than those in the unused templates task force to dredge up templates that have been rotting for months, so it's self-evidently the case that a long-unused template like this one has no likelihood of being used. * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 18:30, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've just added it to the Userspace messages and disclaimers and Editnotice templates navboxes, so it's now much easier to discover. Keep, didn't know that this template exists, but now that I do I"m going to put it on my talk page in place of the userbox. Keep I feel like I've looked for templates with this exact functionality before and could never find one. This template does actually look really nice and I've joined the others in adding it to my page. Maybe I shouldn't have, because now I'm showcasing how bad my schedule can be and I'm paranoid that someone's going to call me out for editing at 3 in the morning one of these days... @Knowledgekid87, it only updates when the page is purged; that's something common to all time templates on Wikipedia, and there's no way around it. But it should work if you use it as intended as an editnotice, rather than putting it directly on your talk page as you did in the diff above.
