The result of the discussion was delete. Per the extremely compelling argument that this userbox is used by exactly one user who was active for three days in 2008. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:58, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template:User pyongyang (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Procedural nomination: originally at TfD. Rationale was "Delete or reformat This template currently categorizes into "Wikipedians in Pyongyang", but the text says "Wikipedians from Pyongyang" which is not even close to the same meaning. As the Internet (nevermind Wikipedia) is not available in North Korea, if you were in North Korea, you would not be able to access Wikipedia, making this an impossible categorization. Further, the Wikipedian who use this template seem to have millions of UBXs for their origins/locations at the same time, so this fails WP:NOTSOCIALNETWORK. If this is kept, it should be renamed {{User Pyongyang}} -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 02:06, 2 September 2013 (UTC)" Ansh666 09:03, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep (as not-nom "nom") - I don't understand real-nom's first complaint, really; while current uses seem to be false, there is the slim possibility that we could have a NK defector from Pyongyang edit. Don't think this being improbable would cause a deletion - doesn't as far as I can tell fail WP:UP#NOT. Ansh666 18:20, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep And if a user misuses a hundred place names - I take it we should remove all of those place names? Interesting thought, that. Collect (talk) 18:59, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I am the original nominator (my IP has rolled over) This template currently categorizes into "Wikipedians in Pyongyang", but this template says "from" and is used to categorize into the category. So if the primary meaning is "in Pyongyang", then the template text is wrong, and this is impossible due to the nature of Internet access in North Korea. If this is for "from Pyongyang", then the MFD outcome should be the renaming of the category, and capitalization of "Pyongyang" in the template name. Since as is, it is implying someone in Pyongyang and editing Wikipedia, which makes them a likely North Korean intelligence and propaganda agent. If they are not, then this is flagging them for being tracked down by North Korean internal security, to be jailed. -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 04:58, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - As 70.24.244.158 points out above, the name of the template and its contents can result in conveying information about the editor using the template on their user page that is not correct and/or not intended by the editor. The only editor using the template is User:Reininger G unit, whose last contribution was 17 March 2008 and appears to be using this template as part of a template collection rather than conveyance of direct information about the user. The template name is misleading because it implies it is for User:pyongyang. The template name and/or contents cannot be changed without knowing whether Reininger G unit is in or from Pyongyang. The template creates confusion when used on user pages. Delete. -- Jreferee (talk) 15:04, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
