- File:Excerpt from YouTube Poop The Sky Had A Weegee!.webm (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by RockosModernLifeFan848 (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
This is something I have uploaded myself. It is a 25 second excerpt from a roughly 2 minute video, that itself is edited from an 11 minute cartoon episode. I believe that, for reasons provided in the description of the file page as well as compared to prescedent of much longer clips that can be found on Category:Non-free video samples (one of which is content owned by the same "base" copyright holder, four times as long, and unedited), that this is an acceptable upload of a non-free work that is difficult to communicate in text, however there has been debate in the Talk page of the article it was intended for, so I think it should go here for fairness. --RockosModernLifeFan848 (talk) 13:50, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- Delete I see nothing encyclopedic about this clip. Copyright claims notwithstanding, we don't need it to describe what's going on. Buffs (talk) 19:56, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- Keep As discussed over at Talk:YouTube Poop, if we do have an example, it can't be replaced by a free use version made by editors, and it's unlikely such a version will be created externally anytime soon. Also, there could be an argument that disregard for copyright is an essential aspect of the YTP genre.
- Regarding encyclopedic-ness, we can describe in text what a YTP generally does, but I'd argue that having text description alone is entirely insufficient. It would be like trying to explain a Kubrick stare without ever showing a picture of such a stare. Sure, you could use text to describe the appearance of the Kubrick stare, what various commentators think about it etc., but nothing can substitute for actually seeing the stare itself and having the reader be able to experience their emotional reaction for themselves.
- That being said, I think the video could be trimmed just a tiny bit further by removing the dinner joke at the end, as I think the video hits all the "YTP edit classics" by that time. Based5290 :3 (talk) 17:01, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
