File:Bigfin squid May 2001.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Mgiganteus1 (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Species is not extinct, and could be observed in the future. This makes the image replaceable and an NFI violation. Sir MemeGod :D (talk - contribs - created articles) 19:28, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. It is the deepest-occurring squid genus, and the adults are known only from video, and this particular image is from the first scientific observation.

  • That unfortunately doesn’t make it not an NFI violation. The species could be observed in the future, making the image itself in violation of the NFCC. I can’t make an NFI from an alive person, because the person could have a photo taken of them later. When they’re dead, then I can. Since this species is still alive (as of 16 hours ago, when the latest observation was published), then a NFI can’t be used.
