File:Bethesda Starfield.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Enjoyer of World (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

There are no reliable sources that verify this will be the game's final cover art; fails NFCC#8. — CR4ZE (TC) 03:39, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm concerned about your understanding of the NFCC, no less after your original upload was in high-resolution and clearly violated NFCC#3. Prefacing your argument with "obvious" doesn't lend it credibility, either. Again, there are no reliable (read: not Twitter/first-party) sources that verify this is the game's final box art. This image is a decoration and a clear violation of NFCC#8. — CR4ZE (TC) 04:13, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Orphaned revisions are regularly deleted, that is why I uploaded a resized version, no big deal. There is no hard rule that we must use a game's final box art. If new cover arts are released, then we can update it accordingly. enjoyer -- talk 04:20, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, yes, there is a hard rule about this: see WP:NFC#CS and WP:NFCI. Placeholder art does not meet NFCC#8 because only the final box art is accepted as meeting the contextual significance criterion. — CR4ZE (TC) 04:31, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What is said in those links are different from what you state here. WP:NFC#CS states: "To identify a subject of discussion, depiction of a prominent aspect of the subject generally suffices, thus only a single item of non-free content meets the criterion". This is the only cover art -- not a placeholder art -- released so far, so it serves that function. enjoyer -- talk 04:59, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you're not understanding the NFCC. The cover art is the image on the front of the box for the final retail release of a game. Promotional/placeholder images are not covered by the NFCC and are not substitute images in place of the box art. — CR4ZE (TC) 05:54, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, seems to be appropriate usage to me, primary image used in the infobox to identify the video game. Comes from the official Twitter of Bethesda Game Studios so the source is good. I did switch the license to non-free poster and updated the fair use as a poster seemed more accurate then a video game cover. Salavat (talk) 14:44, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, one non-free image to represent/identify a subject. Whether that's a retail cover, poster, logo, primary digital storefront image etc. doesn't really matter. When the game comes out there will probably be a cover image and this file can be overwritten. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 17:31, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Used on List of Phi Sigma Kappa brothers, seems to fail WP:NFCC#8. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 17:26, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
