Alternate logo of a TV show. It is not the subject of sourced commentary (and, for that matter, looks basically the same as the current logo). It fails WP:NFCC #8 as its presence does not significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, nor is its omission detrimental to that understanding. Image of Pope Paul VI being coronated, used under a claim of fair use in Papal coronation. This image fails WP:NFCC in several ways. For one thing, we have several free images of popes being coronated and don't need a non-free one. The copyright holder is not named, so it fails NFCC #10. Seeing this particular pope crowned isn't critical to the reader's understanding, so it fails NFCC #8. B (talk) 02:29, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

On the sliding scale from "okay" to "maybe" to "not okay" to "aww, heck no", this one isn't too far down the list. This is something that very clearly you need to see in order to understand. Now, the question arises, is this a significant enough episode in his life to justify the fair use photo? That's more iffy. - We can do a lot of things. The question is not what we can do - it's whether seeing the newspaper significantly increases the user's understanding of the topic and lack of a newspaper is detrimental to that understanding.     - I'm not an OTRS user, but if the email had been received and the person reading it could tell what file they were talking about, the file would have been updated by now. So either the email wasn't sent or they just forwarded the permission without giving any clue about what the permission was for. This was uploaded less than 45 days ago, so maybe we should wait for a while in case something has been sent but not yet handled by OTRS? Hold please. I have reached out to the uploader and asked him to contact OTRS with a statement of permission. He's obviously someone who works for the subject, not just some guy grabbing a picture off the internet. Official portrait of a state politician who served until his death in 2003. If someone was a public figure in the digital camera age, we have reasonable expectation of receiving a free version. For example, someone could contact the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Archives and ask. But we don't need to download a photo and slap a fair use tag on it as soon as they die.
