- Orphaned. Redundant to another file on Commons, but not close enough to F8. SchuminWeb (Talk) 00:20, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete, with this derivative work too? Rehman 02:50, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Wrong forum. The file is on Commons. Please nominate it for deletion there if you still feel it should be deleted. AnomieBOT⚡ 12:05, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Non-free historical photograph of a record-breaking racing car from the 1960s. The specific car still exists in a museum and can be photographed, hence obviously replaceable. di- tag has been contested with the argument that the photograph is from an historically significant moment in time, the day when the record-breaking event occurred – but that "significance" is purely symbolic; nothing in the visual appearance of the photograph actually provides crucial information about the event over and above what text and a present-day photograph can. It was also argued that the surroundings in the museum don't allow a proper photograph to be taken: that is clearly false, because we already do have an adequate photograph from there. - The image on Commons, as already discussed on the image page, is taken inside the museum and there's no space there to get a full view of this large vehicle. The particular Commons image is of the nose - it's a useful image, particularly as it shows the two canopies very well. However it doesn't show the tail (significant to the history of this vehicle), doesn't show the jet engine exhausts (also significant to the engineering history and questioned racing qualifications of the vehicle, the use of jet thrust being especially problematic under the rules). It's also difficult to describe the vehicle without some sort of side-on view and that's impossible in that gallery.
- Mostly though, and this is what justifies a non-free image, is the historical aspect of a photo during the record attempt. Our non-free policy does recognise the value of period photos in that way. Andy Dingley (talk) 15:35, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Incidentally, I would support this edit which swaps the non-free image for the free image on the Donald Campbell article. Campbell's article needs an image of CN7, but it's less important to show particular details. Andy Dingley (talk) 15:47, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: What you are not seeing is that the File:Campbell Bluebird CN7.jpg image does not actually show the vehicle making the run, it just shows the vehicle. So does File:1962 Bluebird Campbell CN7.JPG. Therein lies the biggest hurdle for proving this meets all 10 of the NFCC in the context of how it is currently being used. Soundvisions1 (talk) 15:45, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Reply on three things: if the existing image from the museum shows only a part of the vehicle well, it would still be possible to take other photographs in the museum that show the other parts. Second, no, the historic image doesn't show the vehicle "making the run" either - it is clearly just standing there. Third, even if it did, the "historical aspect" would still remain purely symbolic, and no, our free content policy does not recognise such considerations. An image needs to contribute to understanding concrete facts that are relevant to the article; the mere symbolic gratification of knowing that "wow, that was actually on that historic day!" is irrelevant. - Delete: See File:1962 Bluebird Campbell CN7.JPG as it is the "free" image that is also being used in the Bluebird-Proteus CN7 article to illustrate the same thing. The reason for the use, via the FUR, is: The photograph illustrates the general appearance and layout of a historically important vehicle. The free image illustrates the same thing. Likewise NFCC 1 is not soley about if a free version exists, but if one could be created or obtained - and in this case one not only exists, but more could be obtained and/or created. If anything the file should be moved to the Lake Eyre, 1964 section of the article. Part of the {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}} reason is that The image of Bluebird is taken during its record-breaking run... however this image does not actually show the "record-breaking run". The image appears to show the vehicle sitting still, in a dry looking dessert, while people "in the background appear to be having a kick-around with a football." The text in the articles section about this image, for example, says "On July 17, 1964, Campbell set a record of 403.10 mph (648.73 km/h) for a four-wheeled vehicle (Class A)" and "Had the salt surface been hard and dry,...", this image shows none of that. - Delete: the company's non-free logo is already used in the article, so this image fails WP:NFCC#3a: minimal use. It is just being used as decoration. ww2censor (talk) 16:05, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
