- This photograph depicts a noticeboard which, due to the calligraphic work displayed, could be considered copyrighted. The image is unused, so no fair use claim can be made of it. Freedom of panorama applies only to 3D works.
On an entirely separate point, I'm not sure what the picture of the noticeboard was created and uploaded for, but I live within a reasonable distance of this church and can probably take a replacement non-infringing picture if desired. Stifle (talk) 10:13, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]- I took the photograph of the notice-board, as explained (I did not do the writing). To claim that one is not allowed to take a photo of a notice-board because the style of writing on it could possibly be copyright I find frankly absurd. I have no doubt that there are many images of a similar nature on Wikipedia. I plan to use this image for two articles I am working on, but held off due to this threat of deletion, as I didn't want to place it in an article only to have it deleted. If it is deleted I will replace it. Hohenloh + 14:07, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Whether you find it absurd or not is, with respect, not relevant. If your argument held, then I could take pictures of the pages of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows one at a time and publish them myself. Finally, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not considered a strong argument. Stifle (talk) 16:21, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
