- As far as I can determine this is not from "Agência Brasil" but rater from "Agência Espacial Brasileira", their website is down but looking at the web archive snapshots of the site Creative Commons is not mentioned there. Guess it's possible that the two are the same and they just changed name, domain and copyright policy at some point, but the connection is far from obvious to me at least. - Not what it purports to be. The image description says that it is of African Americans in Confederate uniforms, based on this news article which gives an ambiguous caption not explicitly stating who the people in the photo are or what uniforms they are wearing. The photo is originally from the Library of Congress, here, which states the photo "shows group of seven 'contrabands' dressed in old Union uniforms". I would just change the description, but the file name is also a problem. The image is in two articles, Military history of African Americans and Military history of African Americans in the American Civil War, and I am about to remove it from them because of the false caption. — jwillbur 18:29, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: - Delete as failing NFCC#8 - Peripitus (Talk) 13:22, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Fails WP:NFCC#8. This is a case where the subject of the image may be significant, but there is no apparent significance to the image itself. In Babe Ruth (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)}, the article merely mentions that Ruth posed for a photograph with Herbert Hoover, while Herbert Hoover (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) doesn't even mention the image at all. And any point that the image might be making is probably better made with well-cited text. Mosmof (talk) 23:30, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep An image of such great historical importance – a just-out of office U.S. President with arguably the most famous ballplayer of his time – significantly enhances the article Babe Ruth, which extensively discusses Ruth's larger-than-life role as a U.S. cultural icon transcending baseball during the Great Depression. Mere text alone cannot possibly capture his joie de vivre and bonhomie as well as this image. It is important enough to be featured at the Hoover Presidential Library. Needless to say, both men are long-deceased, and therefore no free replacement is possible. JGHowes talk 23:45, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- A couple of things:
- Was his joie de vivre and bonhomie never captured on photographs that no longer have copyright restrictions, through archives like the Library of Congress or through copyright expiration/non-renewal? Or are they restricted to copyrighted images?
- The Hoover Presidential Library is a museum. Its very purpose is to exhibit and to serve as a depository of artifacts and records, precisely what Wikipedia is WP:NOT.
- I'm pretty sure there are newspaper accounts of Ruth meeting Hoover. You don't need a photograph to tell you that. In fact, the photograph does a pretty poor job of showing what you adequately explained in a couple of sentences. --Mosmof (talk) 15:47, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- File:Stacey Castor's expression as verdict is read.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs) - uploaded by Flyer22 (notify | contribs).
- WP:NFCC#8. There is no actual discussion of the image. The image may show an important moment, but there is no apparent significance to the image itself. If there is any notability to the subject's expression, beyond the standard "she remained calm as..." etc, then it's not evident from the text. Mosmof (talk) 00:06, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. I find the image important for the reasons you feel that it is not that important. Her expression is noted within the article, and it cannot be conveyed through text alone. But I would not be too angry to see it deleted. Flyer22 (talk) 02:48, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I want to add that I do feel that this image significantly enhances the reader's understanding of this moment. In the end, that is what fair-use images are supposed to be about here. There is no other image of Castor currently within the article. The fact that this image is a screenshot of a television program, and the reader does not know what Castor looks like or looked liked in that moment makes it fair use in my view.
