- Looks out of scope...or whatever dictates images here. ViperSnake151 02:58, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. Quan Li K'an, described at length on the image page, has no Wikipedia article. This site uses the image in question; "Bruce Everett Miller" (uploader?) is named (as author?) on that site. Google Image hits show this image used only by "Bruce Everett Miller" and one person who claims to be taking his class, so it's not established this emblem is used outside Mr Miller's class. No linking pages on Wikipedia, unestablished notability, possible WP:COI self-promotion. If kept, I'd say move it to Commons:Category:Martial arts. / edg ☺ ☭ 17:49, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: no consensus--Aervanath (talk) 11:48, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- File:JD Salinger.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs) - uploaded by Daniel Case (notify | contribs).
- Non-free image where the copyright holder is unknown (all source information is just a link to a blog hosting a copy of the file). The image rights may belong, for instance, to an photo agency. Damiens.rf 03:37, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- According to the image credit accompanying this New York Times piece, copyright is held by the University of New Hampshire. It's not the exact same image, but note the clothing and the backdrop ... it's another one from Jacobi's shoot. I have so amended the tag and I would really like to keep this one, because it's a somewhat iconic picture of the author (granted, because no new official photos have been taken of him since then). Daniel Case (talk) 03:59, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep an important and rare view of Salinger...The tag is now amended...Modernist (talk) 04:47, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But it still is not clear who owns the copyright. The Lotte Jacobi collection includes "hundreds of family snapshots, and numerous photographs given to Lotte by other distinguished photographers."[1] Calliopejen1 (talk) 17:15, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete unless the copyright holder can be identified. I'd be prepared to concede that the image is not replaceable by a free one, but at the moment it fails WP:NFCC#10a. Stifle (talk) 09:23, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I think that when you donate pictures to a library, particularly after death, the copyrights go along with it unless otherwise specified. In fact, Jen, I think some of your featured picture nominations have been of photos that were taken by private photographers and donated to the Library of Congress after death, therefore putting them in the public domain (I'm thinking of the B&W one of that Chilean cowboy, not a gaucho ... can't remember the right word and too late to look it up). Daniel Case (talk) 09:27, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- How about someone actually calls up the UNH library and clarifies that a) the picture was taken by Jacobi (I think it's pretty obvious that it was; in fact it is credited as such here) and b) that the library itself owns the copyrights as a result of the donation.
