Delete. This image was created by User Peppy-games and added to the article Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge on March 9, 2008 (see [1]). The image addition was almost immediately reverted. Delete. This appears to be some sort of genealogical record. I can't see any encyclopedic use for it. The contributor has a very troublesome history of uploading copyrighted and non-notable images, almost all of which have been deleted (see contributor's talk page). Delete Violates NFCC2 and NFCC8. NFCC2 is a little bit iffy but I think still failing. The copyright holder is a news agency who would love to make us pay to use this image. If Britannica uses this image, it also has to pay. They took this photo for the very reason of licensing it to organizations like Wikipedia. (The iffy part is that their primary profit purpose was probably short-term, but I think this is nonetheless not respecting commercial opportunities.) Most importantly, this fails WP:NFCC8. Comment - My apologies, but you are mistaken. To begin with, as you are not privy to the news agency's thoughts, perhaps it isn't in our best interests to read motives into actions not taken. Saying they took this photo back in '73 to license it to Wikipedia a quarter of a century later is just plain silly. It's not a free image, but it isn't prohibited, either. Equally, for NFCC8, you are mistaken - perhaps you are expecting the image to carry the day - it doesn't (though it does the job a far sight better than a great many images, imho). This is why we expect non-free images to be tied to the text, explained in fuller context. That the article is new means we roll up our sleeves and tie it to the article better. What you "want" is not the relevant matter, actually. What's relevant is whether or not the typical reader of the article finds that this picture substantially increases their understanding of the topic. A normal person can infer the relevance of the picture by noting the signature from Mrs. Clinton and the buddy-buddy nature of the shot. I should certainly hope that people do not need this spelled out for them. I agree with Crypticfirefly below. Wikipedia is a collaborative project. If you believe that the signature needs to be explicitly referenced in the text, you'd be silly, but I wouldn't object to you adding it in. Actually, I'm the same person, just working at a different computer. But it's worth pointing out that arguments do not get their validity on the basis of who is making them. It was a rhetorical question actually. What I hoped you would respond to was my point that the photo has Hillary's signature on it, thus implicitly clarifying the article's premise that Chung had improper influence with the Clintons. You've not done that adequately - instead, you've used red herrings to divert from the issue at hand. One might infer that it was an official White House photograph and therefore PD. Although this image is all over the Internet, I was not able to track down the original AP source. However, it is likely that the AP image is of the photo with the signature, not an AP photo that Mrs. Clinton signed. As such, I question whether there is any copyrightable content present here in the first place. I am not interested enough in the topic to bother looking further, but I urge you to try to figure out what the status of this image is in the first place. Delete - The image simply shows that people met. There is not discussion of the image in the text and no argument above that convinces me that reader's understanding is significantly increased by having this. If this image were significant I am sure that reliable sources would have written about it, and I cannot find any record of this. The first link is the picture in question (albeit unautographed) which clarifies that this was a Christmas party in 1994. The next two articles mention the rest of the people in the photo who were at the party. The final link is from a hearing before the House where the same meeting is described. Now, I'm happy to add this information in, but I want to see if it's actually sufficient. Thanks to the excellent work above in terms of identifying this image, I was able to locate a Washington Post article that directly explains why it is important and have added the info to the article. Those who think this image should go, please look and see if you still think so. According to the archive, the picture (of the beer ad) was taken February 23, 1997. The image ID number, if anyone wants to check this, is 9412010358. You are missing the point, V; we can use the image if a free image is not available. Additionally, this isn't like the flag-raising over Iwo, where the image itself was history. There were many images of the WWII, but most people know the Iwo image on sight. Comment - respectfully, your interpretation is faulty on all three counts. Fulfills #1 in that it assists the text in a discussion of the event in a way that text cannot do alone. Lastly, #8 is clearly fulfilled as it assists in the understanding of the subject matter and the accompanying text.
