Shapiros10 (talk · contribs) It's been a while since I've been reviewed by the community, and I'd like to see how I'm doing. Sam Blab 23:55, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

  1. Hey Sam, I did say I'd pop over here. You are (IMO) one of the most unfailingly polite Wikipedians I have encountered, which is always a good thing. You seem to do a lot of work in tandem with other editors such as RyanCross, another good thing; it never hurts to build up strong ties with various users. I've worked with User:Choess on a variety of things, for example, and it is nice to have someone you can turn to with article issues in area X. I think a couple of improvements to take if you're treating this as a Request for Adminship Review (as many do, not saying you are): first, some XfD work. You might like to stick [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/{{CURRENTYEAR}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}}|AfD]] somewhere if you do; it links immediately to whatever the current day's AfD's are without having to go through all the sub-pages and sub-sub-pages to find the right day; a boon. Some bigger and more varied mainspace contributions might be in order as well; something featured is always nice, and not that difficult if you follow the pattern of editors who do them regularly (Gary King, for example, is a great template for editors seeking to do discography-related FLs). Hope this was of some help to you. Ironholds (talk) 07:12, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Ironholds. This isn't really an adminship review ATM, but I will try to work more with XFD's and Featured Content. :) Sam Blab 12:28, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Ironholds is correct on the AfD link. I used to have that on my user page a while back, and it's handy when you want to see today's AfD discussions. Maybe I should re-add it... — RyanCross (talk) 04:02, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Shaprios is a well rounded editor, he communitcates brilliantly with others (as evidenced through his participation in wikipedia meetup events), and can also demonstrate good article writing skills (with two recent DYK credits). I really can only echo the above, but keep up the good work with articles and try your hand at writing a good/featured article which will help you learn more neccesary skills. Really great user. 3. He has just adopted me, a new user. This shows he is extremely willing to help new users. This is very good. Syjytg (talk) 16:06, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  4. So, I just gave you a quick look over. You seem to be doing pretty well. However, one thing I'd advise you to try is to pick an article or list and try to get it up to good or featured status. Your edits have started to drift to project and user space a bit (mine probably have too), so this could be a good project for you to try. Maybe you can even get your new adoptee involved. 5. I've always found Shapiros10 to be an extremely polite and civil editor, one who, as Sunderland06 noted, collaborates well with others. I'm also impressed by his skills at organizing Wikipedia meetups. My only suggestion would be to focus a bit more on the mainspace, though I'd be quite hypocritical if I held this against you! Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I've done a bit of anti-vandal work and a lot of gnome-type edits. I've also created some stubs. the one I am most proud of is Nolan Reimold, which RyanCross and I improved to DYK status.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Yes, I won't hide that my past is as checkered as a checkerboard, but the most recent was 5 months ago. I'm on good terms with all of the 3 people I've been in conflicts with. I think that a strategy that has served me well is just getting my butt off of the computer and going back to real life for a while.
