[edit]- Alexander Herrmann (history · last edit · rewrite) from various books but in this one specific test case The Master Magicians: Their Lives and Most Famous Tricks by Walter Brown Gibson (1984), I am not sure it is a copyright violation and so am asking for a second opinion from a more experienced editor. The section that particularly worries me is "A typical Herrmann show": and phrases such as "goblet and toss them, and they would melt in mid-air" in text which the Wikipedia author states in a footnote is "Paraphrased from ..". The main contribution editor of this article was Mtpascoe (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log). Mtpascoe has specialised in editing biography articles on magicians. He clearly has an interest and a in-depth knowledge of in the subject and has read the books he cites. However as can be see from Mtpascoe's talk page a number of images contributed by this editor to this article were deleted because of copyright concerns and if this article proves to have been too closely paraphrased from the source, this is but one of several magician biographies to which Mtpascoe contributed using a similar editing technique and style, and so will also need checking. -- PBS (talk) 09:41, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- I can't find any evidence of copying. The book is only available in snippet form, but I did a search inside it for a number of striking phrases and didn't hit any matches. It's not impossible, but without evidence I don't think we should do anything with it at this point. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:24, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

No copyright concern. Material PD or appropriately licensed for use. While I struggled with removing this because it just isn't important, I ultimately did not. If the author wants it removed, I would recommend a takedown. When he placed it here, he had clear notice that he was agreeing to a GFDL license. If somebody feels differently, that's fine by me, but to me this is not a copyvio. He hit save after he wrote the text. :P --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:58, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
