- University of Dhaka (history · last edit) from http://www.banglapedia.org/httpdocs/HT/U_0030.HTM. This one's a doozy, a lot of text in the article and a lot of it seems plagiarized. May have to be stubbified. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 03:25, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
- I think this is a backwardscopy. The text was added to the article in February 2006 and the source copyrighted in 2006. No archives of the source. There are differences between the text that was inserted and the text in the source: small things like "The university was unburdened" (Source) to "The university was relieved" (Article)" and "The emergence of several new universities later did little to ease the burden of Dhaka University. " (Source) to "The emergence of several new universities later did little to ease this burden." The latter of these comparisons has the text misplaced. The source may be original and later copyedited or the text was taken from Wikipedia and copyedited. Really not sure about this one.--NortyNort (Holla) 08:23, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Stubbing. While the website is not archived and the copyright printed there is 2006, Banglapedia has actually been online since 2003, and it is preceded by the print version. Too, while this is not definitive, the article is credited to Sajahan Miah, who is a professor at the University and was formerly at the University of Cambridge. Finally, the contributor who added the information has a history of pasting content, albeit images. Given the stature of Banglapedia, the fact that we have had so many articles plainly pasted from them, the identity of the Banglapedia author and the copyright issues associated with the contributor, I think we have to presume the content belongs to them. I did an edit by edit search to see if I could find evidence otherwise--such as content evolving towards the Banglapedia article--but found nothing to clarify matters either way. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:09, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

- This one was cleaned by Minimac but it appears VernoWhitney had originally restored the text in Feb 2010 after OTRS permission was received. However, the page cited for permission doesn't have much text and the suspected source is a different website. Maybe someone with an OTRS account can check the ticket.--NortyNort (Holla) 10:39, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- Deleted. I checked this, and it looks as though there might have been some version of "flickr washing" going on, as the OTRS correspondent did not connect himself to any of the sources he used. This article deleted as well as a different one, copied from a different website. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:43, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Done Given my work on copyright, User:Rd232 asked me to take a look at this at my talk page. There is an option to remove quotes that can help clarify in situations like this. With that enabled, the situation looks somewhat different. However, I did find a small amount of content that was not placed in quotation marks and some of the quotes were probably more extensive than necessary. I'm afraid that two of the citations may have gotten mixed up, too. I've rewritten the passage. While you may still wish to evaluate the reliability of the source, any concerns about compliance with copyright policy should, I believe, be addressed. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:29, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
- That works for me. Thank you very much, Moonriddengirl. I revised the discussion of Bollen to clarify that Herman and other scholars's complaints were discussed by Bollen (rather than endorsed or shared by Bollen). Kiefer.Wolfowitz 17:18, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
