This article is an essay without any sources or references. The term "small-c" is used to be clear the reference is not to the political party of that name. However Wikipedia is not a dictionary. The Four Deuces (talk) 22:25, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Used commonly by Democrats as well [1] Used in very current news articles [2] [3] and a slew more. 477 cites as phrase on googlebooks. 20 usages as phrase in the NYT, including [4] on 31 Oct 2009. Thus showing common usage of the term in its entirety, acceptance of the term by major media, including the NYT. Notability similary is shown by the uses given.
