Comment. The article was in slightly better shape (though still with some problems) before February of this year, when a series of WP:COI edits were made by an IP claiming to be the subject of the article. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 15:25, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. As noted above, the edit history of the page shows that the article used to have references and had existed in a much more reasonable form than the promotional unrefernced version that was nominated for this AfD. In February 2020 there were a series of edits by IPs (with similar IP addresses) in Maryland, signed as "Updated by author"[1] or "Updates made by Robert Slavin" [2] which created the version that was AfDed. I have restored the version of the page prior to those apparent COI edits. The article deserves another look. Nsk92 (talk) 15:33, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Keep. The article still requires clean-up, but the subject is definitely academically notable. At a minimum passes WP:PROF#C3 as a member of the National Academy of Education; I have added the info+ref to the article. Nsk92 (talk) 16:21, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Keep. I took a pass at cleaning up the article, but a lot of work is still needed. Still, some of his books/papers have 1000s of citations, which looks like a clear pass of WP:NPROF C1. (In addition to the C3 case identified by Nsk92.) Additionally, the COI edits that have been reverted included (along with plenty of cruft) several honorary doctorates, further backing WP:NPROF (assuming verifiability). Further comment for interested editors that the subject's wife Prof. Nancy Madden co-founded the Success for All program and looks like she passes WP:NPROF, but is red-linked. Her role should also be discussed more in the current article. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 17:09, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. Clear pass of multiple WP:PROF criteria also including #C5 as Distinguished Professor at JHU.
