- Delete Control theory as a concept is used in sociology, for instance, a review article on "Control Theories in Sociology", Ann. Rev. Soc. and our Control theory (sociology) article. But this article doesn't seem to be using the term 'first-order' in the same sense as Power's approach noted in the review article.
