Keep - along with City Manager and City Clerk, a City Attorney is on the same level as for instance a Police or Fire Chief, either of which, I would say would qualify a person as notable enough for Wikipedia for a city this sized. If a single person qualifies as notable due to their office, then an article about the office (consisting of the set of all persons holding that office) should undoubtedly qualify.Greg Bard (talk) 19:40, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Delete. There has not been any consensus yet to delete articles about city attorneys of very large cities (see, e.g., Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Los Angeles City Attorney Election, 2009 and Los Angeles City Attorney), but it depends in part on the actual job duties. For other cities' attorneys and equivalent officials, the consensus is to delete; see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark A. Meyer (Attorney) (assistant corporation counsel), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dennis W. Chiu (planning commissioner), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of American public officials convicted of crimes (2nd nomination), and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nassau County Comptroller's Office. I don't think that officials with this title make them notable attorneys (see User:Bearian/Standards#Non-notability), so logically the office is not notable. Rarely we have kept Sheriff's offices that patrol large areas (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Genesee County, New York Sheriff's Office) or can't decide about other municipal agencies (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Allegheny County Medical Examiner and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Johnstown Redevelopment Authority). So the outcomes and precedents are not favorable; the burden of proof thus shifts to the creator to prove this is notable, and I don't see it yet. Bearian (talk) 19:59, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merge to Bakersfield, California#Government and politics. Not sufficiently notable for its own article (unless it has substantial coverage in non-local press) - but can be included in a wider discussion of Bakersfield government. --Colapeninsula (talk) 09:42, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
