This article was created by an admitted employee of Reed's publisher, who also admitted that this bio was sent to her by Reed himself and is continuing to work with the subject on the article. He also does not appear to pass WP:GNG or WP:NAUTHOR, but even if he did it would most likely be a WP:TNT situation. GPL93 (talk) 00:43, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Delete A Google search on my end returns several different Aaron Reeds in the first two pages, none of whom are the one in question. None of the sources given establish notability as they are not independent. I'm not aware that the employee knew that submission of copyrighted material by its owner to Wikipedia cedes that copyright to Wikipedia's licenses before I told her, so I say we delete it especially if Reed wants to keep the copyright to that written bio. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 01:08, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. First off, the only reliable news source in the article about the subject discusses his work as a tour guide in three paragraphs. This book, also a reliable source in the article, appears to have nothing at all to do with the subject. That's hardly significant coverage required of general notability. Secondly, this writer fails the relevant guideline on writers. There is no evidence that any of the subject's writing has ever gotten reviews, or even attacks, in a major publication. Thirdly, I don't see any awards for fishing, which is another claim for notability. We have generally eliminated sports figures unless they are "fully professional". He's not a professional sports fisherman; rather, he makes a living as a fishing guide. This person seems to be a run of the mill tour guide who's gotten in a couple of local papers and specialty periodicals. Good for him. His connection with a foundation, even if it were notable, can't confer notability on him. I note that being awarded a patent does not make a person automatically notable. Finally, there's no evidence he's won a service medal or promotion in the military and thus conferring automatic notability. Three generations of my family have served as sailors/marines, but none of them were notable. Please thank him for his service to our country, but that doesn't make him notable. I tried to find better sources online. Under Google scholar, there's 300 hits, but they appear to be for other persons (A.W. Reed is a scholar at University of Missouri-Kansas City, a different Aaron Reed appears to have edited some nursing textbooks, and yet another Aaron Reed was a local leader in Bedford, New York). Finally, there's a former wrestler with a similar name. None of them are notable either. By the way, WorldCat shows his book is not in any listed library, and Google books shows zero reviews. Sorry. ~~Don't Delete~~ Comment Aaron Reed is not a paid fishing guide. He makes his living as a Captain and First Mate on an ocean-going tugboat. Therefore making Aaron a "professional fisherman." Also, there are no reviews on Aaron Reed's debut book because it hasn't been published yet. The publication date is on the publisher's website under the details. See here. Additionally, the book is going to be published by Imbrifex Books. Therefore, making him a "published author." Lastly, Reed has several awards. Here they are: Excellence-in-Craft competition: Humor, runner-up in 2009 (Jury, Texas Outdoor Writers Association); Excellence-in-Craft competition: Online Article, winner in 2009 (Jury, Texas Outdoor Writers Association); National Award for Print News, winner in 2005 (Jury, Association for Conservation Information); DA Keith L. Ware Journalism Competition, winner in 1997 (Jury, U.S. Army Europe); Military Journalist of the Year, winner in 1996 (Jury, U.S. Army Europe).
