Summary[edit]The play opens with a musical band of four marionettes, each playing an instrument; piano, drums, trumpet, and bass. After a brief song, the audience is introduced to Joey Arias, who has been kidnapped by aliens and is subjected to an intrusive probing while she performs a version of Kasmir by Led Zeppelin. When the aliens are finished, they eject her from their spaceship and she crash lands in a jungle presumably on earth, and she sings an original song by the Propellerheads' Alex Gifford called Jungle of Eden. After the song, Joey finds herself hungry and searches for food only to eat a psychedelic mushroom which causes her to hallucinate. During the hallucination, psychedelic imagery is projected onto a scrim at the front of the stage while Joey sings a Beatles medley consisting of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Within You, Without You which then turns into a scene in an undisclosed location where objects float through the air while Joey speaks to the audience about her sugar daddy. After this, she is sent to Hell where she performs a musical number and some suggestive activities with two giant anatomically-correct male devil puppets. Joey then sings All By Myself, and is confronted by a puppet image of herself who inspires her to return to New York City while Joey sings another original Alex Gifford song, Lately. When Joey makes it back to New York, she arrives just in time to perform in a show with the aforementioned puppet band where she sings the Joni Mitchell song, Twisted, the Billie Holiday song, You've Changed, and a song from Ziegfeld Follies, called You've Gotta Pull Strings, which ends in a Busby Berkeley-esque finalé, including mirrors and kaleidoscopic video images of Joey's face. The show has been extended through December 31, 2008 as of August 7, 2008. This article is about the 2001 futuristic sci-fi film, The Avenging Fist (拳神). Film directed by Andrew Lau Wai-Keung & Corey Yuen, starring Leehom [Wanghttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leehom_wang]. The production design for the film was developed by Wong Jing. The film's plot involves scientists' experiments creating an object called Power Glove. The Power Glove'ss purpose was to activate power's within humans by providing more access to our brians. More than the 12% of compacity that a normal human uses. Needless to say the experiment was shut down. Only a few survivers remain. One surviver turns evil and the others pretty much go under the radar. When one of the experiment subjects, War 21 (the evil mention earlier), returns a few years later with a small army holding the world at ransom.
Dark has become a police officer and uses his ability to fight crime. The unfortunate side effect of using a Power Glove has told Dark exaclty when he will die. he wears a watch on his left hand that counts down to the second of his death. A joke is thrown in the middle of the movie regarding his wieght being another possible side effect. Dark finds out that Thunder has two children that carry special abilities without access to the glove. Dark figures that Thunder's sun, Nova (played by Leehom Wang), may have the DNA needed which will allow him to defeat the future threat.

Vision[edit]To be the leading provider of vocational education and training in the region. Mission[edit]
Core Values[edit]
Opportunities . Action. Success[edit]The Vocational Training Council (VTC) is Hong Kong’s largest vocational education, training and professional development group. Since its inception in 1982, VTC and its member institutions have been providing practical training programmes covering relevant knowledge and skills that are needed and valued in Hong Kong and beyond. VTC draws strength from twelve of its member institutions, breadth of programmes and variety of accredited qualifications to provide a new world of OPPORTUNITIES to students of all ages and abilities. Championing a teaching and learning approach that is practical, hands-on and outcome-based, its ultimate aim does not only centre on the acquisition of knowledge and skills, but equally on ACTION itself. Its “think and do” approach cultivates the students’ passion for learning while imparting the necessary skills and know-how for SUCCESS. Well-Established Governance Structure[edit]VTC has a well-established governance structure. The Council – the highest authority in VTC – comprises 22 members, among whom 4 are senior government officials and 18 non-government representatives from the industrial, commercial, service, labour and educational sectors. The Council is led by the Chairman with the assistance of two Deputy Chairmen. Under the Council there are 21 Training Boards covering a great variety of industries and professions, and five general committees that deal with training areas relevant to many industries. Currently, VTC has a total staff force of over 4,800, including both teachers and administrative and support staff.
A Valued Choice to Success[edit]As the leading provider of vocational education and training, VTC offers valuable opportunities for students to turn their interests into a career. They believe that interest is a strong driving force stat instills passion into learning. With its interactive and creative learning environments, students enjoy the freedom to “think” as well as acquire the know-how to “do”. VTC inspires a lot of students for fulfilling personal goals, gaining a new perspective on life while contributing to their chosen fields for the betterment of society. VTC and its member institutions provide a broad spectrum of programmes, covering a wide range of industries from engineering to accountancy, maritime services to hospitality, and design to catering, for students with different backgrounds and abilities. Its “through train” approach with multiple entry and exit levels allows students to attain higher academic qualifications according to their own personal development plans. Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), one of the key member institutions of VTC, offers world-class vocational education to post secondary students in Hong Kong through its nine campuses located across the territory. Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) was newly established in 2007 to provide quality foundation design education to meet the emerging needs of the creative industries. School of Business and Information Systems (SBI), another VTC’s member, provides higher diploma programmes with emphasis on business, information technology, and hospitality and tourism disciplines. Over 14,000 well-trained graduates of these member institutions each year either join the labour market to contribute to society or choose to further their studies to obtain higher education qualifications. Strong Network with Industries[edit]All programmes of VTC and its diverse member institutions are proactively attuned to market needs. Curriculum is designed with inputs from academics and industry representatives to offer the perfect balance between theory and practice. Working hand in hand with the industry, the Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre (HITDC) ensures an adequate supply of qualified new entrants. The Chinese Cuisine Training Institute (CCTI) provides professional training in Chinese catering and restaurant management to further elevate the standard of the industry. Maintaining a close relationship with the industries, the Maritime Services Training Institute (MSTI) offers both pre-employment and in-service training that meet international requirements. Diversified Training Bringing out the Potential of the Young People[edit]VTC also operates institutes for the young with vocational focus. The Youth College (YC) provides a valued alternative to mainstream education for S3 and S5 school leavers. The courses combine both theory and practical training to effectively enhance the interest of students, and prepare them for employment or further study. The Yeo Chei Man Senior Secondary School (YCM) offers mainstream senior secondary school education (S4 to S7) with vocational subjects. The School's "dual progression route" allows students to pursue mainstream education or vocational courses in VTC. Transformation[edit]VTC's new logomark reflects the turning point in a student's life - that moment when they shine! The vibrant, colourful strokes radiating from the leter "V" symbolise the positive transformation that VTC hopes will take place during the students' learning experience. It is also emblematic of the transformation of VTC itself as it rises to the challenge of providing leadership in vocational education, training and professional development not only in Hong Kong, but also across the region. Introduction Greek Trading was placed all around the country. Trading is where you get your own goods such as food and sell it for reasonable prices to villagers or people who really needed it around the country. Trading and bartering started out with people fishing for good quality fish and some people wanted to buy it. So then on trading has been a huge concept in Greece. Trading was a big thing and it still is and I guarantee it always will be. was on of the main countries around the world that was most famous for its trading and Economy. Since the temperature is very mild, they were able to grow and make things very successfully and then trade and barter them to many different places around the continent. They traded things like food such as fish, strong metals to build, spices to cook, fine linen, grains, exported wine, olive oil and pottery. Trading was one of the things that really got people paid quite a bit. From making the goods to transporting them, people got paid quite a bit and to be in that business at that time was quite an honour. It was found that the Greeks traded many arts and crafts which sold very highly, more than wines and olive oil which were the most popular traded items in the Economy. Greeks traded most of their goods by ships unless it was in near distance. They did this because taking a ship was much faster than taking a sail boat and sailing all around the coast of Greece. Greeks traded most of their goods by ships unless it was in near distance. They did this because taking a ship was much faster than taking a sail boat and sailing all around the coast of Greece. They traded a lot of their food to different cities in Britain. They transported all this stuff by boat. If a location in a close venue the greeks would either ride donkeys. They could not drive or use a car because roads were way too narrow to use a big piece of machinery unless they wanted to crush someone or something. The route they usually used to transport goods from Greece to Britain would be to go to the South Coast of Greece and just take a boat all along the outline of Europe and when they reached Britain they just took it from there and Britain citizens enjoyed the Greek goods very much. So after a while of fair trading, Britain started to trade as well. So Greece was one of the most successful countries for trading and bartering. When Greeks started trading they exchanged one item for another with the same or close value. Around 590bc they started using coins. Coins are a lot easier to trade with opposed to bartering because you pay with one currency for everything in the city. The coin widely used in Greece was the Drachma which had an Owl and the head of Athena. The only place which didn’t accept Athens’s coins were Sparta because of the rivalry between them. At the peak of the Greek empire in the classical age their coins were used almost everywhere. When visiting other cities or countries you would have to go to a money-changer so you could exchange your currency for another for a small fee. The money-changers were normally set up in the market place or the agora. These money-changers made so much money they started lending money out and they would have to pay with interest. If the client couldn’t pay the money-changer back by the set date with interest the money-changer/banker would take what they pledged like a house. This was the start of banking. Coins were made of silver, gold, copper and iron but Greek coins were gold and silver stamped with either gods, goddesses, or a symbol of its city. For example in 300-243bc there was a coin from Corinth with Pegasus on one side and the other side Persephone’s head bound with corn wreath other side Persephone’s head bound with corn wreath. In Greece it was 8 chalkoi 1 obolus, 6 obolus 1 drachma, 100 drachma 1 mina (or mna), 60 minae 1 Athenian Talent (Athenian standard). Every single city or country had their own coin as a sign of independence. Import and Export In Greece trade was a big part of their city. Greek was a big country and their environment and surroundings couldn’t provide all of the needs of the Greeks and this was the same with other countries. Greek people had to rely on imports and exports so there country could provide the needs of the people. Importing is when you bring goods into your country from a different source, probably another country for sale. Exporting is when you transport goods from your country to another for sale. This is how the people on earth satisfied all their needs even though there country couldn’t provide. In ancient Greece some exports include Oil, Wine Pots and Pottery, Statues, Honey, Silver, Metalwork, Clothes, Books, Cutlery, Furniture, Mercenaries, Weaved products, Raw materials, Horses, and Cloth. Greeks and all other countries had to sell all their exports for a reasonable price so they have money for imports while it’s still cheap enough so other countries and citizens will buy them. All of Greece’s main imports come from 14 places scattered far and close to Greece. Greek trades with places like Egypt, Cyrene, Crete, Balkans, Cyrus, Sardis, Persia, India, Italy, Sicily, Carthage, Spain, Britain, and Miletus. These big countries have goods to offer Greece that Greece cannot supply. The main import is grain for Greece because they import 2/3 of the needed supply from different countries. The most renowned imports of Greece were Papyrus from Egypt, wheat from lands north of the black sea, and timber from Turkey and the Balkans. All the imports were Dyestuffs and luxury fabrics came from Phoenicia and Carthage, Papyrus from Egypt, Slaves, Grain, Iron, Copper, Animal hides, Wine dyes, Tin, Silver, Wool, Gold, Lotus flowers, Gems, Dye, Timber, and Spices.
Most trade was done by private merchants. Private merchant’s jobs were to sail around from port to port to buy what’s cheap in one country and sell what’s expensive in other countries for a profit. For some time Athens was the heart of trade mostly because they had one of the best ports. The most successful merchants were the ones with their own boats so they could sail freely. For the merchants it wasn’t all profit because the state charged custom duties and most of the prices around the country were around the same even though there was a considerable difference. Merchants didn’t have to go to different countries to make a profit because you could trade between different places in Greece like Corinth and Athens and still make a profit. For example Merchants could get salted fish in the coastal cities and islands then sell it in the mainland. To sell their goods merchants went straight to the agora and set up a stall or if they were busy they would sell it to a trader and they would sell it in the agora for a more expensive price than the one he bought it for. Agora The agora is an open air market. It is where most of the trade takes place. An Agora is where traders, money changers, and shops set up stalls and sold there goods. Near agora, important public buildings like a courthouse surrounded it. In the marketplace it would be filled with men and slaves because that was the typical crowd. The agora is always busy because its open everyday and lots of people go there to gossip, share news and share jokes. The agora is like our mall but men went everyday and if they were rich they would have slaves to carry all the stuff they traded, or bought. Everyday officers checked weights and measures and the quality of goods on sale in agora so they wouldn't be selling anything unfairly. Conclusion Overall, the Greeks were one of the most successful countries to trade and barter. The quality of their items were good and thats what people wanted, so that made Greece one of the most successfull countries in the history of well done trading and bartering. The Greeks trading was also fair and was reasonably priced. Sources[edit]Websites[edit]

History[edit]The oldest section of Greenwood Cemetery comprises land purchased from the federal government by Dr. Ziba Swan of Albany, New York, in 1821. The first interments on this one-half-acre parcel, set aside by Swan for a cemetery, occurred in 1825, when Polly Utter and her daughter Cynthia were murdered by Imri Fish, a mentally ill War of 1812 veteran who was boarding with the family. Twenty-one years later twenty-one local citizens, including Dr. Ebenezer Raynale, a member of Michigan's first senate, purchased the cemetery property and an additional one and one-half acres from Swan. Martha Baldwin, founder of the Ladies' Library Association, organized local women into a group that in 1885 incorporated as the Greenwood Cemetery Association. Between 1846 and 1904 the cemetery was enlarged three times, increasing in size to eight acres. In 1946 the city of Birmingham took over the operation of the cemetery. Digital Novel Markup Language(DNML) is one of the the first scripting language game engine for creating visual novels, an interactive fiction game. It was developed using C++ by a Japanese programmer only known by his/her handle, Karin. The programming structure is similar to HTML so it made easy for doujins. Up until 2001, doujin games was not yet popular on the internet except in Japan, this made the developers to ceased the development of DNML. As years go by it was succeded by softwares like KiriKiri, Nscripter and Ren'Py which are more superior. Sample commands[edit]Outside Japan[edit]kamuixtv met Karin by browsing Infoseek, a popular search engine in Japan in the late 1990's. He was looking for resources for his fan translation of Isaku. He is a member of a doujin in the Philippines, but people in their area think such activities are unusual. Since then he joined the development of DNML and translated all the related documents into English. Monster Crawler combines the power of all the leading search engines together in one search box to deliver the best combined results. This is what we call metasearch. The process is more efficient and yields many more relevant results. Monster Crawler provides an easy way to search more of the Web by harnessing the collective power of the most popular engines. The Internet is an enormous and constantly changing medium, making it impossible for any single engine to reach the entire Web. Using our algorithmic metasearch technology, Monster Crawler takes results from the leading search engines (Yahoo Search!, Google, MSN, Ask), eliminates the duplicates and delivers you the most comprehensive set of results. You benefit by obtaining a quicker, more accurate set of results to your query. Monster Crawler's algorithmic metasearch technology blends and ranks the results derived from each of the separate engines based on the specific terms you type. If, for example, you type the words "computer prices", the resulting search will include many commercial Web pages containing information on businesses offering computers for sale. If, on the other hand, you type the words "computer technology", your results will be weighted toward articles, information and other research about computers. Monster Crawler also provides multimedia results including images, audio, video, news, and local information.

File:142.x600.feat.knightly.pirates.jpg [[ Princess Maya By ACHOURI fethi Once there was a princess whose parents had died, so she lived with her aunt and uncle, who were also a king and queen but were cold and selfish. Unlike them, the princess, whose name was Maya, was as kind-hearted as she was beautiful and brave. The only thing that she liked about living in their palace was that the Queen was a powerful sorceress, so Maya had a chance to learn some magic. She studied a lot, and soon became quite a good witch in her own right--being careful to use her spells only for good. One day her uncle the king fell ill and broke out in spots. Even the queen, with all her evil sorcery, could not cure him. So the king called all the doctors of the country together and told them: "If you cure me, you shall have half my kingdom. If you do not cure me, you will all lose your heads." The doctors put their heads together and muttered, but none of them knew a cure. "So!" said the king. "Then off with your--" "Wait, wait!" said the oldest doctor. "There is one remedy. You will have to take a bath in ... er, ah ... in the blood of ... er ... some prince of nobler birth than your own!" "Very well," said the king, and commanded his Royal Admiral to take the whole Navy seeking for a prince of nobler birth than his own. "And in the meantime," the king said to his guards, "put a lock on the doctors' chamber, and sharpen the executioner's axe, just in case the remedy does not work." "Are you crazy?" the other doctors whispered to the oldest as they were led away by the guards. "Who ever heard of a remedy like that?" "I made it up," the oldest doctor whispered back. "At least we get to keep our heads while he is seeking such a prince. Let us hope it takes a very long time!" But as luck would have it, in the very first week of searching, the Admiral's ship met with a finely-rigged ship from a kingdom far away, which flew a royal flag and had a royal seal painted on its hull; and the young man standing on the deck commanding the sailors appeared as quite noble as could possibly be required. "A fine specimen!" said the Admiral. "Capture him--but do not spill a drop of his blood!" They signalled their other ships, the fleet surrounded the foreign ship. The strange prince fought bravely but was at last captured, and brought back in chains to the palace, to stand before the King and the whole group of doctors. "What shall we do now?" the doctors whispered to the oldest doctor. "The prince's blood cannot really cure the king. As soon as the king tries it, we will lose our heads." "Ah, well, er." The oldest doctor examined the prince. "This one might serve. Provide that he is well-fattened first. Feed him on pies and cakes for at least, er, six months." "Are you all mad?" shouted the prince, whose name was Azmar. "Release me at once!" "Oh, yes, and. Er." The doctor backed away and whispered to the king: "This prince's blood is much too hot. His temper must cool. Tell him some nice story. Play some nice music. Give him ... the princess Maya... Er. For at least six months. Then call me again.... good day!" "Very well," the king whispered back. He had Azmar's chains cut off at once, and lied: "My sailors made a mistake. I had asked them to invite you here to meet my niece Maya, to see if she would like you for a husband. I hope you will stay here as her guest for a few weeks." Maya was very surprised to hear this. But as soon as she and Azmar saw each other, they liked each other very much, so both of them agreed to the visit. In a hidden courtyard behind the old palace, open to the sky and full of overgrown flowering trees and vines, her uncle the king shut them up together. He had two tiny cottages built, one for Maya and one for Azmar, and closed out all news of the outside world. There Maya and the prince spent many happy days among the fountains and birds, learning each other's language, teaching each other to play foreign musical instruments, and laughing. Then one day when they were feeding the bright-colored birds, Maya decided to practice her spell of understanding animal speech, and heard the birds saying: "Such a nice prince ... what a pity he has not long to live...." "What!" said Maya. The birds, who were always flying in and out of the halls of the palace and hearing gossip, told her the whole scheme; and Maya told the prince. "I will get you out of here," she added, "and you can escape to your own kingdom." "You must come with me," Azmar said. "You will be safe there, and later we can be married." Maya agreed, and they kissed to seal the plan. That night Maya climbed out of the garden, put on sturdy clothes, took a pair of jeweled swords that bore her royal crest, and went to town and hired a ship. "Wait at the dock ready to sail," she told the captain. "When a man comes carrying one of these swords, treat him well and obey him as you would me." Then she made her way through the dark town back to the palace. As she crept through the shadowy passages, she stopped by the door of the doctors' chamber to find out how their plan was coming. "We cannot delay any longer," the doctors were saying. "The King wants the prince's blood at moonrise, just two hours from now." Maya ran to the garden, climbed inside, and gave one sword to the prince. "Hurry! Go to the ship right now! Show the captain this sword and he will obey you. I will come to the ship as soon as I can." Azmar protested, "I do not want to leave you in danger." "Your danger is worse," Maya said. "Nobody wants my blood. But if you die, my heart will break." So the prince climbed over the wall and hurried away toward the docks. Maya climbed the wall one last time and went inside the palace. How could she delay the pursuit? She crept down to the doctors' chamber, let herself in with the jailor's key, and cast a sleep spell. Soon all the doctors began nodding drowsily. So far so good. Then the queen came down the passage. Quickly Maya hid behind a drapery. The queen came in and shouted: "What is the matter, you fools? The king wants that youth's blood now!" Maya cast her spell again; but the Queen's own magic was too strong; she could not be affected by a spell cast from across the room. While the Queen was shaking and kicking the drowsy doctors, Maya took a piece of magic parchment and cast her spell on it. Then she made her voice deep and moaned, "Oh, Queen, help me wake up." The Queen hurried to the doctor nearest Maya's hiding place and kicked him. Maya slipped the enchanted parchment into the Queen's dress pocket. This time the spell worked. The Queen fell down; sound asleep, on top of the doctor. Maya ran to her own chamber and grabbed a few belongings, then collected a bundle of jewels and other treasures from other rooms in the palace. Then she saw the King going toward the doctors' chamber. Maya had now used up all her sleep spells, so she left the palace at a run. She wove her way through the dark streets toward the dock. The prince met her halfway, sword ready in case she needed help. She gave him the bundle of treasure, they ran to the ship, and quickly the captain sailed them out of the harbor. When the king found all the doctors asleep and the Queen asleep on top of a doctor, he flew into a fit of rage. He screamed and kicked till he woke up all the doctors. Then they tried to wake the Queen, but the spell on the parchment was so strong that even all the doctors together could not wake her up. Finally they said, "She must be ill. Put her to bed." The ladies in waiting took the Queen to her bed and undressed her. As soon as they removed her dress, the parchment fell out of her pocket and the Queen woke up. When they told the Queen what had happened, she became furiously angry. «Maya must have done this! Bring me my magic mirror!" The mirror showed Maya and the prince on their ship just sailing out of the bay. The Queen cried, "I will stop them! Perhaps Maya's blood will improve my skin as well!" She ran outside and cast a spell on a hemlock leaf and threw it into the river that ran by the palace. The leaf became a magic ship full of soldiers. The Queen jumped aboard and told the captain, "Follow that ship!" Soon Maya, who was keeping watch from the crows-nest, saw the Queen's magic ship overtaking them. She cast a spell on her jeweled sword and threw it down toward the waves. "Sword, beat!" she cried. The sword danced around the ship, beating up so much sea-foam that a cloud of mist rose on all sides. "Mist, hide us!" Maya cried. The mist gathered around the ship, completely hiding it, and moved along with them as they sailed. When she saw Maya 's ship vanishing into the mist, the Queen was so mad that she tore her hair. Then when she calmed down she picked up twelve of the hairs and cast a spell on them. Each hair turned into a soldier with a bow and a magic quiver that would never run out of arrows. "Archers, shoot that mist full of arrows!" the Queen cried. The archers obediently shot volley after volley of arrows into the mist, piercing every foot of it. On Maya 's ship, when the arrows started falling, Azmar and the sailors swung their swords overhead, knocking aside arrow after arrow. "Go below, Maya!" Azmar shouted. "There are too many arrows, we can't get them all!" Instead, Maya called back her jeweled sword and cast another spell on it. Immediately it jumped out of her hands and began dancing in the mist above the boat. "Sword, parry!" Maya cried. The sword danced faster than lightning, all around the ship, knocking down all the arrows as fast as they came. So many arrows were knocked aside into the water that they made a great heap floating right behind the ship. The Queen's ship plowed into this and scraped to a halt with big scratches in its paint. Now the Queen was furious. "If I want this done right," she muttered, "I guess I'll have to take things into my own hands." Using powerful evil words, this time she cast a spell on her own two hands. Her wrists grew longer and longer, her fingers grew colder and harder. At last her hands had become frightful silver grappling hooks on long white ropes. With these terrible new hands she reached out into the fog, blindly groping here and there till she grasped the rail of Maya 's ship. Maya and Prince Azmar felt their ship lurch to a halt--then move again, very slowly, pulling the weight of the Queen's ship and the whole heap of arrows behind it. In the dense mist, they stumbled around the deck looking for the problem. Finally they saw the two silver hooks on white ropes gripping the rail. "Sword, chop!" Maya cried. Her sword chopped--and both cut ropes began wildly waving in the air, spouting blood. Horrified, Maya cast a healing spell at the ropes. They turned back into hands, healthy hands on healthy arms, and withdrew in defeat, making a rude gesture. Maya's ship sped up, free of the drag, and as it sailed away they heard the Queen call out her final curse: "We have lost that Prince and so shall you! Once home may he forget you!" Maya's ship sailed on, free now. After she and the Prince had held and comforted each other, he said, "But what about the Queen's curse? I will never go home if it means forgetting you! Let us sail to some other country." So they changed course to avoid his kingdom. But a great storm arose and drove their ship toward it in spite of everything they could do. Fearing that the ship was about to be broken on the rocks, Maya took a ring from Azmar's finger and together they cast a spell on it. "You may forget," said Maya, "so I will wear the ring for now. Then later when you put it on again, may you remember everything." As they neared the rocks, the storm gave one last great heave which washed the prince overboard. Then the wind calmed, and the ship righted itself and came safely to harbor. No trace of Azmar could be found. It was as though he had been carried away by magic. Maya traveled at once to the capitol, and was very relieved to see the prince riding by in a parade, looking quite healthy. But when she called to him, she found the Queen's curse had come true. He would not even speak to her! After resting and thinking for a few days, Maya made a plan. She was sure Azamr's love for her would eventually prove stronger than the Queen's curse. But she wanted to speed matters, and in the meantime, she might as well have some fun.... So Maya opened the bundle of treasure she had stolen from her uncle and sold enough of the jewels to rent a luxorious mansion just opposite the palace, then bought herself a wardrobe of fine new clothes as beautiful as those of any queen. For the next few weeks she simply rested in peace and luxury, enjoying the solitudle of her mansion. Then she began going out into society, and flirting with all the men of the royal court—except Azmar, whom she ignored just as much as he ignored her. Soon all the nobles and lords of the court began to hover round her. Every day her mailbox was full of love-sonnets and every night her garden was full of love-songs and serenades. Maya went to grand balls in her splendid dresses, always watching the prince while she flirted with everyone else. But he never seemed even to notice her. After she had become the belle of all the balls, Maya went on to the next part of her plan. In her own manison she put a spell on a door, on a candle, and on her comb. Then she chose the handsomest duke and invited him to a private dinner in her home. When the duke came into the dining room, Maya said, "Excuse me, I'll be back in a moment. Oh, would you please close the front door?" The duke closed the door, but it immediately opened again. He closed it again, and it opened again. Now he could not get his hand loose. All night the door kept him stuck there, opening and closing. Maya did not come back till dawn. "Oh, I forgot about you," she said. She shut the door herself, and this time it remained shut and released the duke's hand. She teased him about not being able to do such a simple thing, then sent him on his way still hungry. Next night she invited the richest baron to dinner in her home. When he sat down at the table she said, "Excuse me, I'll be back in a moment. Oh, would you please blow out that candle?" The baron blew out the candle, but it immediately lit itself again. He blew again, and it lit again, and he found himself stuck to his chair. All night the candle kept him there, blowing and blowing. At dawn Maya came back and said, "Oh, I forgot about you." She blew out the candle herself, and sent him on his way. Next night she invited the king's cleverest lawyer to dinner. When he arrived she said, "I'll give you a kiss if you'll comb my hair first." The lawyer was happy to comb her beautiful hair, but soon found that the comb was making more tangles than it was combing. And, like the duke and the baron, once started combing he could not stop or go away. Maya yawned and pretended to fall asleep. Next morning she said, "Oh, I forgot about you," and released him. The lawyer was so angry that he went straight to the king (who was the prince's father) and told him the story. "This foreign girl is a mischeivious witch," the lawyer said. "You should have her arrested." At this the baron and the duke told their stories too. The king laughed at them all, but he had Maya brought to trial anyway. "Why are you making fools of my nobles?" he demanded. Maya did not waste time asking what the king meant. She stood up and said loud and clear: "I am avenging a great wrong that was done to me by a member of your court." The king said, "What was that?" Without naming the prince, she said, "I saved the man's life, and now he has forgotten me. He will not even speak to me." "Well?" said the king. "Go on." Now that all the court, including the prince, were listening, Maya told the story. "I do not know the man's name," she lied, "but here is his ring." The king made all the nobles line up then and there to try on the ring. As soon as it was Azmar's turn and he put it on, he remembered everything. «Maya, forgive me!" Azmar shouted. "Father, everyone! It is quite true! She did all this, and more!" And he told the whole story to the entire crowd. «Maya, please forgive me!" "Of course!" she laughed. In front of everyone, the prince bowed and kissed her hand. "She is wonderful, and I want her for my wife--if she will still have me. Father, if Maya’s witchcraft is bad, lock us up together!" The king laughed and said, "Case dismissed!" www.booksie.com

Morrwind Syndrome is being used in the gaming scene as a negative remark if a player excessively jumps around in a game without any sense what so ever. It comes from Morrowind because players could improve their skills in Acrobatics when they jumped. The more they jumped, the faster they improved their acrobatics skill. Galivan is a location in Orange County, California. Most internet-based mapping websites locate Galivan as a neighborhood or small locale near the cities of Mission Viejo and Laguna Niguel, about two miles north of the Interstate 5-California 73 interchange. Coordinates for the location are N 33.569 and W -117.674. While Galivan's status varies from map to map, it is almost always located at the spot where old U.S. Highway 101 (now Camino Capistrano) crossed over the Southern Pacific railroad tracks. Prior to the construction of Interstate 5, a two-lane road was sufficient to carry the traffic through the then-rural area. The "Galivan Overhead" transferred the highway from one side of the railroad tracks to the other. While the bridge no longer exists, the portion of old Highway 101 is still mostly intact, and a similar bridge (designed by the same architect) can be found in Del Mar, California, also on a portion of old Highway 101, and also used to carry the roadway over the railroad tracks. Nothing remains in the area that suggests if there was ever a village there, as the surrounding area has been heavily urbanized.
