Prof.Dr Mujeeb Zafar Anwaar Hameedi

Mujeeb Zafar Anwar Hameedi (Urdu: مجیب ظفرانوارحمیدی،پروفیسر)(born August 24, 1964) is a Pakistani poet and writer of children's literature.[1] He has written several books and has received awards as cash prizes and merit certificates on his three books Khooni Khazana, Garam Garam Rotian, and Lijiey Ice Cream Khaiey from Federal Ministry of Education Government of Pakistan in 2004.[2]

Personal life

Hameedi was born on August 24, 1959 in Liaqat Abad (Sheesh Mahal) Karachi, Pakistan to Syed Anwar Hussain and Syeda Fatima Akhtar Naseeri. He received his Matriculation Examination certificate in 1975 from Karachi Grammar School, his F. Sc.[clarification needed] in 1978 from D.J Science College, Karachi and his B.Sc degree in 1981 from Federal Govt Urdu Science College, Karachi. He has Ph.D and D.Litt degrees from the University of Karachi. He was also a Faculty Member of Pakistan Steel Cadet College.[3]

Career

Hameedi began his career working at Mohammadi Public School in 1986, he worked for 8 years.Later he tought Urdu at Cadet College Steel Town Karachi [3] and Aga Khan Education Services. In 1998 Hameedi succeeded Sindh Public Service Commission exam and became a Lecturer in Urdu, posted at Government Boys Delhi College (then Sirajud Daulah Degree College). He was also an acting principal at Konkar Degree College. Hameedi is currently a visiting professor of Urdu at Karachi University and a professor in Urdu Literature and Linguistics At Sirajuddaula Government Degree College, Karachi.[4] He is Patron in chief of the Pakistan Children's Writers' Guild.[5]

About Hameedi's efforts for promotion of children stories an author writes; "The Pakistan Children Writers Guild was formed for promoting literature for children of which Dr. Mujeeb Anwar Hamidi is the patron-in-chief along with Professor Saher Ansari, Jamil-u-Din Aali, Masood Barkati, Alhaj Shamim-u-Din, Naheed Nargis, Fatima Suriya Bajia, Altaf Qadri, Dr. Aslam Saeed and Agha Noor Mohamed Pathan part of the executive committee of the guild. In this regard, a small yet colourful ray of hope was given by Mahnaz Malik who published her first story book for kids title ‘Mo’s Star,’ a story about a penguin trying to reach the stars".[5]
