Shortcuts

Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.

This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.

If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.

Please note that administrators may not ping you in replies, so please check on your request if you have not heard anything.

Especially for new users, it is helpful (although not strictly required) to explain what specific task you intend to use AWB to do in your request.

You do not usually need AWB access to:

fix duplicate references (see User:Polygnotus/DuplicateReferences)
fight vandalism (see WP:CUV/T)
do category maintenance (see WP:CATALOT)
rate articles (see WP:RATER)

Hi. I intend to use AWB to assist with repetitive but useful maintenance tasks such as fixing common formatting issues, updating templates, correcting typos, and performing category cleanups. Similarly, I have also reviewed the guidelines and will ensure all edits follow Wikipedia policies. I am also familiar with Wikipedia editing conventions and have made constructive edits. Hi @Pppery, Well, You're right to ask. I understand concerns about hat collecting. I had requested these permissions because I have specific or immediate plans to use each permission that I have in more frequently, policy based and in constructive manner. If you'd like, I can explain how I intend to apply each permission in current areas where I'm active. Hello, I don't edit on the English Wikipedia, but I am asking for the rights so I can use it on the Macedonian Wikipedia so I can fix frequent typos, grammatical errors, update templates, and many other things (but mostly for time-consuming repetitive tasks). @Jtasevski123: This page is only for asking permission to AWB on English Wikipedia. Each wiki has its own structure to allow use of AWB. As far as I can see, mk wikipedia does not have a local AWB CheckPage. So, you may use AWB without restrictions, however, consulting with the admins there before using AWB might be more preferable.
