"Welcome to the Machine" הוא השיר השני מהאלבום של פינק פלויד מ-1975 Wish You Were Here.[3][4] השיר נכתב על ידי הבסיסט רוג'ר ווטרס, הוא כולל סינתיסייזרים מעובדים וגיטרות אקוסטיות, כמו גם מגוון רחב של אפקטים קוליים.
הקלטה
[עריכת קוד מקור | עריכה]הרצועה נבנית על צליל פעימה בסיסי שבוצע על ידי EMS VCS 3 ואחריו הד אחד שחוזר על עצמו אשר ווטרס ניגן במקור על גיטרה בס (אשר הוא עשה אובר-דאבינג לחלק הבס שנמצא בפועל בשיר שיותר שומעים בגרסת הסטריאו). בתקליט המקורי, השיר היה המשך ישיר של 5 החלקים הראשונים של "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" וסגר את הצד הראשון. כשיצא בפורמט של דיסק, במיוחד במהדורות המחודשות של 1997 ו-2000, "Have a Cigar" היווה המשך ישיר (אם כי חלש מאוד) לשיר. ההמשך הזה היה כמה שניות יותר בגרסה האמריקאית מאשר בגרסה הבריטית. דייוויד גילמור הודה כי התקשה לשיר שורה אחת של השיר, ואמר: "זו הייתה שורה שפשוט לא יכולתי לעשות, אז הורדנו את ההקלטה בחצי טון." הוא שר את החלק מעט נמוך יותר, ואז מהירות טייפ ההקלטה הועלתה בחזרה לנורמלי.
הצלחה
