good faith edits made by me, a Polish fan of (for example) a British band, were repeatedly misunderstood and maybe not thoroughly reviewed, despite my shy questions and explanations...

Please describe concisely and clearly how your edits merited a block, what you would do differently, and what constructive edits you would make. Please read Wikipedia's Guide to appealing blocks for more information. Thanks. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 03:25, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

Request reason:
OK, I understand and I'm really sorry that I didn't explain my problem in detail just yet. I just thought I'm supposed to provide a brief explanation. More precisely, the British band that I'm a big fan of is called Simply Red. I've loved - and still love - their music ever since I was little and (with no intention to brag) I'm really lucky and grateful to be a friend of a lot of the Band Members. After one of them, the band's long-time bassist Steve Lewinson (I still miss him dearly) has suddenly passed away last December, I've found out through a fan video from one of Simply Red's gigs last year (thanks to the introduction from Mick Hucknall, the band's lead singer) that Simply Red has "a new boy here - yes, Orefo". I instantly recognised (based on the new bassist's look and first name) that it's probably Orefo Orakwue, whom I've watched and heard on videos before, when Orefo played with some of my other favourite Artists, such as Anastacia, or the Sugababes. When I made sure that it's really Orefo (thanks to sharing my thoughts with other Simply Red Fans and my Friends from the Band - even with Orefo himself - on social media), I really wanted to acknowledge Orefo in the Wiki article about Simply Red, so (with all due respect to him, Steve and Everybody), I've added Orefo to the "Current line-up" chart and the infobox. These edits were approved late last year and safely stayed as part of the Simply Red article, until... On the 28th of February this year, a registered Wiki-editor (a man, whom I'm trying not to name, out of respect and even a bit of fear for him) suddenly decided to alter the band-line-up chart and infobox and completely wipe any mention of Orefo away, with no review/explanation from the editor. I did manage to restore and super-shyly and politely explain my edits a few times, but the editor (without a word back to me) re-did everything the way he wished for, after a few minutes, making me lose my confidence in being an editor (and I'm quite a shy, 20-something boy in general - I'm also dealing with anxiety). I wonder, if that man wanted to read what I peacefully wanted to add, source and explain. Maybe he preferred to click-click-click back and move on... O:-( And honestly, I'd rather peacefully communicate, co-operate and review anything as part of teamwork - I wouldn't want to blindly fight with Anybody and get my way no matter what. I know and respect what Wikipedia is supposed to be and for many years, if something in the world of music (a life-long passion of mine) needed an update, I happily want(ed) and tried/try to reliably provide contributions. Like I even tried to explain my good intentions in the "View history" section (after yet another, unexplained revert from the other editor): "Just because people technically can write anything on Wikipedia, shouldn't mean that everybody wants to make things up... I'm not like that - I swear... :-(". So, here I am, behind my computer in my native Poland, very sad and even more shy than usual, with my IP address and my account both blocked (maybe because of this misunderstanding). And obviously, I'm so sorry for everything, because I always meant and mean well, with every edit that I'm making, and I always would like to observe anything properly (and properly cite my sources, wherever it's required). Kindest regards, all the best, thank You for everything, take care and... Would You like to unblock me and help me review/justify/source my edits, please?... O:-(
Decline reason:
My thoughts about your unblock request are that you should read WP:Verifiability - your sources for your edit were not enough. Also, I am confused - have you abused multiple accounts? In your next unblock request, you should clearly answer that question. PhilKnight (talk) 16:29, 5 March 2025 (UTC)

Request reason:
Dear Mr. Phil Knight - first of all, I would like to thank You soooooo much for stopping by to help me out and for all the precious advice that You've given. I've fully taken it to my heart and I always keep the rules in my mind. Also, kindest thanks for giving me another chance to ask for an unblock. I'm ready to explain everything You're still curious about. When I saw that all the mentions of Orefo Orakwue (whom I've really seen and heard on fan videos as the new bass player of Simply Red and whom I really wanted to add to the Wiki article) have suddenly disappeared (even if they've been initially approved at the end of last year), I understood that someone might have not found that information reliable enough. When I first made the edits, I already new articles from well-known news outlets are preferred as sources on Wikipedia, but I couldn't find too many articles from well-known sources about Orefo joining the band (very close to when their long-time bassist Steve Lewinson has sadly passed away). Still, I've come across a few videos of Orefo playing with the band at their concert in Schladming, Austria, back in December last year. And since I've seen & heard Orefo before on videos from gigs by other Artists (and I've even been lucky to message Orefo and some other Friends from the Band on social media), all of that made me sure it's really him. So, when Orefo disappeared from the Simply Red article, I initially thought - simply, but always with a good heart - that even if I'm not sure, whether I could cite any video links here, maybe I could just explain in the "Talk" page (anonymously, just like when I made the initial edits) that I did find some concert videos from fans and I based a lot of my edits on them. I also hoped that I could ask Anybody to help me verify/cite everything properly and guide that person to the clips I've found. I soon realised/understood that my initial attempts to explain, weren't enough - maybe I even didn't have that much time to explain, because everything that I shyly tried to re-add and clarify, disappeared in a few minutes and my IP was soon blocked. Then, I had a quick little thought that maybe being an anonymous Wiki-editor has caused this much confusion, so I logged onto my main Wiki-account - just to try to redeem myself, try to be much more reliable and add one of the best video-links that I could find (of Mick Hucknall, Simply Red's frontman introducing the entire Band - including Orefo) during the band's first concert of this year, in Mexico). I really wish(ed) that I could've found more well-known sources, than just that YouTube video and I could tell it's not the recommended source to cite. I just couldn't find more links from widely-known websites/pages. Still, I thought that If I'd explain my edits and shyly ask for help again (using my username this time), Someone would like to help me out with the whole issue. I didn't want to fight at all - it mainly looked like that because the other editor (a man that I'm trying not to name out of my full respect and a bit of fear) erased everything that I tried to do, even if I tried to politely tell him that I understand and respect him, that I know my edits don't look reliable and that I'd really like to co-operate with him or anyone else and find the best sources for everything. Unfortunately, the fellow editor didn't want to reply to me with any word - he only replied by reverting everything again. I logged off to try to cure my anxiety (I'm a 20-something boy, who's been dealing with anxiety, for the last few years) and when I logged back onto my account, I sadly realized/understood that I've been blocked once again. So, to directly answer Your question - I admit, I tried to make my edits more than one way, but I didn't (and didn't want to) use multiple accounts. My first attempts were using my (legal) IP address and when it was blocked, I only wanted to redeem myself (with full understanding of the situation) and follow the rules even more precisely - the only (legal) way I wanted to do that was through my "Wikorybek" account, where my explanations and shy questions for help weren't understood anyway. Am I sorry and sad for how things have turned out? - Yes, I wholeheartedly am... O:-( <3 Did I want to disrespect any of the Wikipedia rules? - No, I wholeheartedly didn't want to... Have I wanted to do the best possible research? - Yes I've definitely wanted to do so. Would I still like to ask for a chance to unblock me and for help with verifying/citing sources properly, to see if/how Orefo could be mentioned again? Yes, I would... So far, outside of fan videos, I mainly managed to find a few news articles, including official reviews of recent Simply Red concerts. These reports mention all the members of the band and do include Orefo - I'm just not sure, if/how I could quote these articles on the English Wikipedia, since these are reports written in Spanish (a language that I can speak a little bit and that I'm still learning - since I'm from Poland). But just in case, I'm ready to provide the best links that I could find on this topic so far. Would You like to take a look (please?) [1] [2] [3] Most of all, I'm still grateful for everything Wikipedia/Your Team provides - thank You sooooo much for this and (in advance/with a quiet hope) for all Your understanding and help (pleeeeeease)... I always (want to) have good intentions and work together with You, not to get in anybody's way - I promise... O:-) <3
Decline reason:
Good lord. You've been at this for four years. You have to stop. The only way you will ever be unblocked is if you take the standard offer and make no edits whatsoever on English Wikipedia for six months. No new accounts, no editing on IPs, nothing. This repeated block evasion is never going to work out for you. -- asilvering (talk) 03:20, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

- I don't think you understand the reason for your block - it's not for the content of your edits, it's for your use of this account to evade a block that is intended for you. While block, you are not permitted to edit using any account of IP.-- Ponyobons mots 18:31, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
You have two lengthy unblock requests open. Only one is needed(not every statement needs to be an unblock request). Please remove one of them, and I would also suggest shortening the remaining one. 331dot (talk) 22:20, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
- To "331dot" - OK, thank You soooo much for all Your kind words of advice and also, I'm sorry because I didn't mean to clutter this "Talk" section either. I just wanted to reply to "Ponyo" and since the Wiki-system didn't let me (and still doesn't let me) click "Reply" near "Ponyo's" message, the only other way to post my reply seemed to be through another unblock request. Only now, when I clicked "Reply" near Your message, Dear "331 dot", the typing window showed up and I can see, how the function works.
- As for Your second piece of precious advice: I know (and I'm sorry for that as well) that my messages are quite long. I like talking/interacting with people though that's not the only reason. In this case, two Wiki-moderators/editors, "PhilKnight" and "Ponyo", both kindly asked, what were my editing intentions and why did I try to bypass the block of my IP, by logging into my Wiki-account. I felt that if I explained my situation too briefly, this could make the moderators even more uncertain about it all, so I tried to explain as best as I only could, how I wanted to verify and co-operate with any other editor(s) on properly verifying my edits, but sadly, I didn't get a chance for that before I got blocked.
- I fully considered Your last advice and I tried to shorten any of my recent posts somehow, but I'm struggling to find a good way for that, because... What if anything important for the Moderators would be in the part(s) that I'd try to erase?...
- One thing I was thinking of is to move my previous message (the one that's maybe shorter O;-) ) to the "Reply" window that I'm typing in right now (since I know that in this window, the typing feature is working). Could that be a good compromise?... O:-)
- Quietly hoping it could be, here's how I replied to "Ponyo's" precious advice a few days before :-) :
- Oh, OK - I understand. Thank You sooooo much for clarifying and for clearing up some of my confusion. I really thought that the main reason for my block would be because the information I've found didn't look believable (even if I'm a Simply Red fan, even if I've seen & heard Orefo with other artists before, even if I could find new articles and live videos of Simply Red and even if I was lucky to ask some Band Members online - including Orefo himself - whether that was really him on stage, in the band). As for using my "Wikorybek" account, when my IP was blocked - I'm sorry because I know I shouldn't have done that... Actually, I didn't want to evade my block to "get my way" against all odds - it was more because I was confused, sad and quite burnt out, feeling that none of my explanations (in the "History" log) seemed to be read/understood and that I didn't get the chance to talk/work together with any Editor about verifying my edits, even though I wanted to and tried. After each of my edits was reverted super-extra-quickly and my IP was blocked, I thought: "How could I ever redeem myself and fix my mistakes, if there's nothing I can do about it, when I'm blocked?". Spontaneously, I reminded myself about the "Wikorybek" account - I know that using it broke some of the rules, so if I could still explain myself somehow, I'd like to assure You that I didn't go ahead as if to say: "Haha, they won't catch me now! ;D". I only logged in to try to explain why I'm trying to edit, to try to fix my earlier mistakes (that I didn't want to make either) and to ask for help, work together with Anyone and say what I couldn't say because of the IP block. So, You can be fully sure that I'm not (and wouldn't be) against You. And I'm not trying to complain about Your advice - I'm just trying to explain myself with full respect to the situation. Would that be enough for me to ask You for an unblock again, please?... And if so, could I work together with any Wiki-Editor online to review what I've found about Orefo playing in Simply Red? Could Anybody re-assess, what could be re-added out of it all? Once again, pretty-please, I'm truly sorry (because I wouldn't ever want - and didn't mean to - simply break any rules) O:-(, thank You very much, kindest regards (straight from Poland) and all the best to all of You. I'm really grateful for all the chances that You've given (or would like to give) me and I appreciate and share Your willingness to make sure that Wikipedia is a reliable place. <3
- The "reply" function is imperfect and doesn't work well in all situations(especially when posting at the bottom of a page as is often required). Please click "edit" at the top of the screen or in the section header to edit this page instead, when reply doesn't work.
- Admins/moderators are volunteers, and one may not want to invest their volunteer time in reading your lengthy statements. An unblock request should not be, in most cases, more than two or three short paragraphs. If an admin needs more information than that, they will ask. 331dot (talk) 09:12, 17 March 2025 (UTC)

While I still understand everything You wrote to me, Dear Moderators, I need to explain just a few more things (and OK, I'll try my best to keep everything as short as possible O:-) ): I wholeheartedly regret that I did try evading the IP-block by using my "Wikorybek" account and now I know that I shouldn't have done that... From my side, this was only a heat-of-the-moment attempt, only because I was surprised and sad that my edits to the Simply Red article (which I really made with good intentions, as a big fan, who's really lucky to be friends with this wonderful band for a long time) were reverted super-quickly and that even though I replied that I'm eager to co-operate with other Editors, or Moderators and grateful for any help in sourcing everything properly, the Moderator on the other side of the screen most likely didn't (want to) believe me - maybe this Person thought that I've got a "won't give up without a fight" attitude. I'm not like that though - I promise... And I spontaneously thought that maybe using my editor-account (rather than just the IP) would help me redeem myself and explain (in the overwiew of the edits) what I couldn't say/write earlier on... O:-) Secondly, I know that I've done a lot of edits here on Wikipedia (I really like being an editor in Your community, by the way), but I'm sure that I didn't ever deliberately change my IP addresses to make edits (and I wouldn't want to - God forbid). However, back when I was making sure how to correctly interpret the line-up changes in the band The Killers (another favourite band of mine) and when I was trying to update the "Band Members" section accordingly, I got the impression that another user, or more users (who was/were similarly confused about the status of certain band members), explained their edits in a veeeeery similar writing style to mine (just with a few grammar mistakes, if I remember correctly). Maybe this is why it looked like I've been using different IPs as an editor, on many occassions. That's not my style however - I'm sure I didn't literally change my IP for editing and I'm sure that not all of the similarly looking edits to The Killers' Band Members section were really done by me. Back on the topic of Simply Red, I already discovered that Orefo Orakwue (the band's current bass player) was re-added by another User and since I'm still sure that Orefo's the new bassist (based on my own research, the information from the band members themselves - including from Orefo himself - and on clear, close-up shots of Orefo in Simply Red's brand new, 2025 concert film from Santiago, Chile - officially shown in cinemas), I'd happily like to thank that other Wiki-editor for giving Orefo his place in the Wiki-story of Simply Red again. And now, I'd just really like to add Orefo back to the infobox and re-include a few other information that were approved before, but got wiped away by the editor who (probably) didn't believe my intentions and explanations.
Once again, I'm so sorry for all the things that I've done imperfectly, I'm sending You all my best wishes, kindest thanks and regards (all the way from my native Poland), I promise to be even more careful in every way and... Could I (shyly) ask You once again to be unblocked, please?... And would Anybody like to help me source my edits correctly? I'm always grateful and fully ready for any advice and cooperation. Back on the topic of Simply Red, I already discovered that Orefo Orakwue (the band's current bass player) was re-added by another User and since I'm still sure that Orefo's the new bassist (based on my own research, the information from the band members themselves - including from Orefo himself - and on clear, close-up shots of Orefo in Simply Red's brand new, 2025 concert film from Santiago, Chile - officially shown in cinemas), I'd happily like to thank that other Wiki-editor for giving Orefo his place in the Wiki-story of Simply Red again. And now, I'd just really like to add Orefo back to the infobox and re-include a few other information that were approved before, but got wiped away by the editor who (probably) didn't believe my intentions and explanations. Once again, I'm so sorry for all the things that I've done imperfectly, I'm sending You all my best wishes, kindest thanks and regards (all the way from my native Poland), I promise to be even more careful in every way and... Could I (shyly) ask You once again to be unblocked, please?... And would Anybody like to help me source my edits correctly? I'm always grateful and fully ready for any advice and cooperation. And really - I'm so sorry, thank You veeeeeery much for everything, Big Love and take care! :D O:-) <3 |accept = accept reason here ~~~~}}
