User talk:WikiMacaroons
Hello. You are invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It's currently planned for June 16-July 13. There is currently $3338 going into it, with $500 the top prize. As 250 countries and entities is too much to patrol, entries will be by user, but there is $500 going into prizes for editors covering the most countries. Sign up if interested! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:14, 30 May 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to West Darfur. When you were adding content to the page, you added duplicate arguments to a template which can cause issues with how the template is rendered. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find these errors as they will display in red at the top of the page. Thanks. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:54, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for spotting that, Zackmann08, completely missed it! :) WikiMacaroonsCinnamon? 00:13, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
Converting old graphs
[edit]Hi, You have several bot pages on javascript pages that can be converted to extension:chart. This C:User:Tomastvivlaren/graphDataImport script makes that easy. More specifically I am talking about these pages: User:Dapperbot/AfricaGraph.js, User:Dapperbot/AsiaGraph.js, User:Dapperbot/EuropeGraph.js, User:Dapperbot/NorthAmericaGraph.js, User:Dapperbot/OceaniaGraph.js and User:Dapperbot/SouthAmericaGraph.js. Speedy deletion declined: Draft:Bev Burgess
[edit]Hello WikiMacaroons. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Bev Burgess, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Promotional tone is not WP:TNT level and fixable as a draft. . Thank you. Whpq (talk) 00:33, 30 September 2025 (UTC)

- @Diannaa:, terribly sorry, that was one sleep-deprived destub attempt. I had the full intention of going back and paraphrasing that passage before I hit publish, but completely forgot like a fool, thanks so much for catching it, I’ll try not to let it happen again. Declined speedy deletion: World Bottle
[edit]Hi there, and thank you for all your help making Wikipedia better! I wanted to let you know that I have declined your G12 speedy deletion nomination of World Bottle. Instead, I have pruned the problematic content to remove any copyright violations, then completed a revision deletion. The remaining text should now be within policy, but if you have any further concerns, feel free to let me know or tag specific sections for additional review. Thanks for your diligence in maintaining Wikipedia's content standards! Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 16:36, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:48, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
Destub process
[edit]I noticed some of your recent contributions summarized as "Begin destub" or similar, and I wasn't sure what you meant by that. For example, see Cross of Adelheid, Creil and 1967 Arab League summit. Do you consider those completed?
For the Arab League article, a lot of that text appears to be directly from Khartoum Resolution. Would you be able to explain what you were intending to convey, considering WP:PARAPHRASE and WP:COPYWITHIN?
For the cross article edit, is that substantially a translation of de:Adelheid-Kreuz? The German article has references, but you don't seem to have retained them. Moreover it lacks inline citations, which in my mind makes it a suboptimal selection for translation. The Creil article is similar, except apparently translated from fr:Creil and this one did have inline citations, which were omitted in translation to English. Surely the references are essential? And I'd contend it's also essential to refer to the oldid and wiki language identifier (de or fr)—or insert the whole source URL in the edit summary if you prefer—to maintain attribution. TheFeds 05:07, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, @TheFeds:, thanks so much for your message. When I used "Begin Destub" as an edit summary, that was to remind myself to finish my work on that article later on. I just felt at the time that it would be better to "break ground", and start work on them, because having a partially destubbed article is always better than a stub. I realised recently that I had built myself up a significant backlog of articles that I've only partially fixed, and so I fully intend on fixing the issues you've brought my attention to, as well as many more partially destubbed articles. There are plenty of articles I began interlanguage translation of, and either left bare link references or none at all, which is pretty lazy in hindsight. I will begin the process of finishing the destubs I've started today, thanks. WikiMacaroonsCinnamon? 12:33, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying. My overall concern is that nobody else really knows your timeline, or even whether you have since been hit by a bus and will not be completing the work. Could I suggest that you tag the added articles/sections with {{under construction}}, or insert cleanup tags like {{inline citations needed}} with the edit when you recognize an issue that you expect to correct? It is important to be accountable to readers and other editors.
- Also, it is relatively easy for the editor adding the material to provide attribution of statements to sources, but much harder for others to do the same later, because they have to go searching for where it could have come from. You have to accept the burden to cite your sources when you translate or copy text: if you don't, who will?
- If that seems like too much, perhaps consider a different approach: declare a plan on the talk page, link to what you want to incorporate (specifically to
oldids if practical), and then communicate there as you piece it together. - Attribution is a scholarly and legal obligation. I could be called too stringent for making the following recommendation, but I'd lean towards using the undo function to explicitly revert edits that lack attribution, and then adding the content back, but explicitly stating the
oldidand language identifier, and the process (translation, etc.) in the edit summary. So not "Begin Destub", but instead "Inserted proofread machine translation from https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Adelheid-Kreuz&oldid=256433246." (This is consistent with the {{Expand German}} tag that was on that article before you edited it, so I'm not just making this up to be difficult.) TheFeds 22:24, 19 November 2025 (UTC)- @TheFeds:, so sorry for the delay in responding, I went to Coventry (Literally, not figuratively). I agree with you, and I've stopped starting new destubs because of the fact that I have so many unfinished. I think putting the timeline on the talk page is a really good idea, and I'll start doing that when I begin destubbing articles again, which I'll only do once I've gone and cleaned up all my unfinished ones - as you said, it's my obligation. I know firsthand from destubbing what a pain it is to source statements that people lazily added to articles without references, but I'm a bit of a hypocrite there; since I haven't been hit by a bus, it's time to fulfill my intention of finishing what I started. - @WikiMacaroons Whoops!!! Well, in return, you are allowed to hit me with a fake block template at any point you want. In fact, since you are so clearly a WP:CLOCKPUPPET, you can even hit me with a template yesterday =D – LuniZunie(talk) 22:13, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
