Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ChaotıċEnby(talk) 09:15, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you insert a spam link to Wikipedia again, as you did at Animal (2023 film), you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Hey, it's a newspaper review (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eenadu), and the newspaper has a circulation of over 1,351,956 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eenadu). What's your issue? I don't get it. Are you against publishing the facts? Venkatphd (talk) 09:23, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not at all, but why should we mention a review written in Telugu (for a Hindi film's dubbed version in the language) in the English-language Wikipedia? And you aren't even providing a link to this "review". Krimuk2.0 (talk) 09:26, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's simply a reference, my friend, and the review pertains to a Hindi animal movie. The film premiered nationwide in Hindi across India. Naturally, you may come across various references in different languages, not limited to Hindi. If you have any reservations or question the reference, please feel free to translate, cross-check, and report any concerns. Venkatphd (talk) 09:34, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (Animal (2023 film)) for a period of 1 week for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  – bradv 15:34, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What's the deal with blocking my account? If someone challenges the facts with references, is it now my job to prove myself? This whole biased mess casts doubt on the entire page. You should've fact-checked before blocking. So, what's your basis for blocking me? Venkatphd (talk) 04:02, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Using Eenadu in political context

[edit]

Hi. The newspaper is a partisan WP:PARTISAN source when it comes to politics of AP and TG. Please do not use it (like this). Thanks. — DaxServer (t · m · e · c) 16:07, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

This is in relation to the contentious content that you've introduced in several pages targeting Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy without neutral, reliable and high quality sources WP:RS. Like I said earlier, Eenadu is not a reliable source in this context. Please stop adding such content. Any further such edits may lead to sanctions against you. Please read the links in the blue box above. Thank you. — DaxServer (t · m · e · c) 16:35, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To begin with, I want to clarify that I hold no opposition towards anyone. My aim is to incorporate information that benefits Andhra Pradesh, focusing on local news as it provides the most accurate representation of the region. If you are aware of any alternative sources that are more reliable and accessible to the people of Andhra Pradesh, please share them with me. I am eager to include any valuable insights that contribute to the betterment of the state. Venkatphd (talk) 06:23, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Venkatphd! Your additions to IndiGo have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 18:34, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
