New to enwp

[edit]

Hello, I am new to enwp. My first project is to create an enwp-version of sv:Gunnar Aronsson. Yes, the article is about me, but with cooperation with some fellow swedish wikipedians the article was deemed to be clean enough from WP:Conflicts of interest for svwp, and I hope to be able to do something similar for enwp. I am aware that enwp:s Wikipedia:Notability (academics) might be more strict than for svwp, but anyhow I will try, and are thankful for corrections, advice etc. / Regards Valletun, where this very discussion thread was written by Anhn who did some guidance for the svwp-article, and just want to give Valletun best possible start at enwp. / Anhn (talk) 15:18, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Anhn!
Thank you for advice and help to start. Now I have finished the English text and have a couple of technical questions. The english version is shortened compared to the Swedish and references is limited to English publications and journals and all have links.
1.  The first question concerns biographical data on Gunnar Aronsson. Is it enough or should there be more of sources on place of birth etc, ORCID-id: 0000-0003-3664-1814 Does Wikipedia complete if something is lacking?
2.  The content in section Government Assignments is difficult to verify with English links but can be relatively well verified by Swedish links. What to do?
3. Of course there may be more things to be adjusted and corrected, which I have missed.

Hello Ann!
Have your noticed my questions from 27 December.

Sorry, did not notice this until now.
1. Birth date and place of birth is normally not controversial information and, according to my opinion, may or may not be supported by citations. There are no such sources in Adam Grant. The ORCID-id is already available in the WikiData object for Gunnar Aronsson, and will show up once the article is finalized and linked to WikiData.
2. If there are established english names for swedish entities, use them, else use the swedish and put some explanatory text, maybe within parenteser (within brackets). / Anhn (talk) 15:47, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Gunnar T Aronsson (April 5)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by MicrobiologyMarcus were:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The content of this submission includes material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations. Please cite your sources using footnotes. For instructions on how to do this, please see Referencing for beginners. Thank you.
The comment the reviewer left was:
You've done a good job of summarizing his career but have not shown any coverage from WP:secondary sources that would demonstrate WP:notability required for an article. Even showing a prestigious appointment to satisfy WP:NPROF; you can cite a secondary source that demonstrates any point on the "Notability for academics" to demonstrate that threshold.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
