Nicole draft feedback

[edit]

Hi, Tyrel! You've added some solid material to work with for this draft! I'm curious whether you are working on the off-roading article or the all-terrain vehicle article. You are attached to off-roading in our class wikiedu page, but the material you're adding is so ATV-specific that it seems more connected to the ATV article. Some things that stand out to me as strong in this addition are:

  • there is a good level of information here--specific enough to not over-generalize, but broad enough that we don't get lost in the weeds
  • the breakdown of different vehicle types and purposes is clear and could be a helpful addition

Some things to think about as you continue your work on this article:

  • sources need to be cited after every statement presented as fact, rather than only at the end of a paragraph, and the sources in the reflist should be more specific than just the big website name (for example, I can't determine which part of this material references uslegal.com, and getting only the broad website name rather than a specific article title on that website leaves me unable to effectively track down this source material).
  • where do you see this material integrating into the existing article? what other pieces of information have your sources led you to that you still plan to add? (finding more--and more specific--sources would be helpful on this front)
  • there are some sentence, grammar, punctuation, and spelling bumps throughout this that will require a careful proofread before adding it to a main page. If campus is convenient for you, a resource like the writing center would probably be strong one to utilize on this front

I hope these notes are helpful, and I look forward to seeing the final version of this!Nicoleccc (talk) 05:37, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The importance of the topic is clearly stated in the lead paragraph. The article is pretty good so far. If I were to add anything it would be to break up the sections, be more specific about types of suspensions, and different types of vehicles. Also, different types of drive terrains, what makes one thing better over another(rock crawler to the dunes vs. a sand rail to the mountains). I think this article is pretty neutral for the most part. I would just add more information and examples for certain items. Calhoun92 (talk) 06:35, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The explanation of ATV and off road vehicle is great start! It was really easy to follow along and adding the types of terrains or weather conditions that they are able to travel through was a great addition as well. I also liked that you added the various features of ATV or off-roading vehicles, I.E. suspensions modifications, tires, lifts etc. Are you creating an ATV section of the Off-roading Wiki page that already exists? That was unclear to me because your draft was more like the creation of a new article. In either case, you could insert links to things like snow, ice, marsh, and Jeeps or any other brand specific items. I also think that having more references will give you a greater sense of credibility to your article! I think a another great addition to what you wrote would be to go over in more detail the features of ATV/off-roading vehicles, like which features are ideal for which types of terrains or conditions, or even the difference in the specific features. An example would be types of tires, or for what instances someone may use 4x4 hi, and 4x4 low. Reading over your article has inspired me in my own writing to get more specific and add more detail. I feel that mine may be overly broad. I also think that I too could use more references and links, after all that’s a large part of what this whole Wikipedia experience is about. --Joshlemus (talk) 07:22, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
