Purpose?

[edit]

What is the purpose of these tables? Are we going to change the Arbcom page? If so will there be a general discussion or will it be by Arbcom motion? All the best: Rich Farmbrough00:43, 5 November 2014 (UTC).

@Rich Farmbrough: Thanks for asking! The purpose of the upper table is to help ArbCom delegate tasks elsewhere, so as to reduce their workload, and the purpose of the lower table is to increase transparency. The upper table has already been enacted (in a trivially different format) at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee#What happens to incoming ArbCom email?. I have been unsuccessful at convincing them to do anything with the lower table, and it seems to me to be stalled. You can find discussion about it at Wikipedia talk:Arbitration Committee/Archive 15#Checking back, User talk:Tryptofish/Archive 23#Mail handling, User talk:Roger Davies/Archive 2014#At your service..., and Wikipedia talk:Arbitration Committee/Archive 16#This ought to be easy. --Tryptofish (talk) 20:25, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's a shame. I would support your lower table, and more. I was going to try to breathe some life into the discussion, but it looks like there is no stomach for increasing transparency. Personally I think everything that does not need to be secret should be public. I might be tempted to try anyway but I think there is a shortage of patience among arbcom, indeed they have stated as much. Which is odd, since it's the prime prerequisite for the job! Thanks for the explanation, and for the good work. All the best: Rich Farmbrough00:18, 6 November 2014 (UTC).
Thank you, too, for the kind words. I'm thinking of posting a question-to-candidates about it in the next election, and potentially starting an advisory RfC after that. --Tryptofish (talk) 00:55, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
