I really like your organization throughout your draft so far. Your bullet points regarding theaters and venues is a great separation and makes the article easier to read. Might I suggest adding some images of a few venues next to the bullet points to fill some space. Your lead is very clear and to the point and I think your version sound more mature and clear. A couple notes on things you could add to spice up your article although i'm aware you will be adding more over the next couple weeks!
Elaborating more by including what the festival was made for and some history behind it might give a nice background into Portland and its many festivals. Portland is known for holding such events and I think mentioning why the festival was created might appeal to a bigger audience. A paragraph or two describing the activities that happen at the festival would add a ton of context. I would suggest that to be towards the middle of your article since it focuses on the days of the event.
I love that you added other film programs and events in our city. This will show more about Portland and its ongoing programs for students that live here or people who are visiting. You have done a good job keeping a neutral tone so far if you want me to review some more after you add to your article I will gladly do so! Aichelemc (talk) 01:37, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
Article draft feedback
[edit]This is a solid starting point for your article additions! Starting with the most recent winning lineup is excellent. The biggest notes I have as you continue researching, adding, and revising are:
- Possible opportunities for continued expansion might be...looking at highlights/winners from past years, expanding further on the additional programs they offer throughout the year (each of these could potentially be its own sub-section under that "Other programs and events" heading), and any significant growth or changes in structure or leadership
- If any of the 2019 award-winning films have their own Wikipedia entries, this is a perfect cross-linking opportunity!
- Most of your updates to the lead look really good to me. I'm curious about the addition of "and venues" in the first sentence...if it's a film festival, aren't all of the venues it's held in also theaters?
- Each statement of fact (such as "It was founded in 2013 by Joshua Leake and Jay Cornelius") should have a link to the relevant source(s) in your reflist at the end of the sentence, rather than just once at the end of the paragraph. Similarly, there shouldn't be sources linked in a section heading (as is currently the case with the "2019 award winners" section).
- Are you considering adding an image to this article?
I think those are my biggest notes based on this draft. Let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to seeing your final edits! Nicoleccc (talk) 01:05, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
