Karan Distinct Caste

[edit]

Hi, I noticed your contributions to Karana caste page, can you please add one more important detail about the community that Karanas strongly refuse to identity as Kayastha here's the link for the source (Archeological Survey of India), https://books.google.co.in/books?redir_esc=y&id=1nYMAQAAMAAJ&focus=searchwithinvolume&q=Das+Mahapatra

Hello , if you have more strong source of your claim regarding this topic , then kindly provide, there is a lot of confusion regarding karanas of odisha and karn kayasthas of Bihar & Bengal The coderXE (talk) 20:22, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i think we can add a line that some Karanas view themselves as a separate caste distinct from Kayasthas although their functions might be the same based on the above source provided, will be glad to know your views on this

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:55, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Ekdalian (talk) 06:17, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in South Asian social groups. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose contentious topics restrictions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Caste in a biography

[edit]

Mentioning caste in a biography article requires self-identification (interview or tweet) by the subject per WP:CASTEID. Even mention of the caste in a source from a third-party perspective wouldn't be valid per the policy, not to mention unsourced additions. So unless you have a subject mention their caste in an interview or tweet, do not add them in biographies. Thanks. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:58, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Arjayay. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Bira Kishore Ray, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
That text was deleted because it was unsourced, please do not re-add without a WP:Reliable source - Arjayay (talk) 11:39, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

go to bhulekh site & from there you can check his land records by adding his village name, he is a karan by birth everyone knew this.. you are removing data intentionally.. already I added source i.e his village name more than 6months ago, same with Chandi Prasad Mohanty & Bijoy Mohapatra The coderXE (talk) 11:54, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Chandi Prasad Mohanty, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources to see how to add references to an article.
Please see the section on "Caste in a biography" immediately above this section - Arjayay (talk) 11:41, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon Hi The coderXE! I noticed that you recently made an edit at Ravi Kumar Singisetti and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typos or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Bongan® →TalkToMe← 11:44, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
