Yesterday I accidentally erased a whole bunch of content via this edit. Today I restored the content I erased. Since you were the person affected by this, please make sure that your votes are correct. My apologies for all the trouble. Balcer13:05, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you have no intentions of actually writing the encyclopedia and would rather just continue playing silly games involving inappropriate categories, I would suggest that you find another website to mess around on. --Cyde Weys17:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This was a very bad idea, Cyde. You have yet again unjustifiably blocked me. I've tried to resolve this with you in a civil manner on your talk page, and was about to post something else when you blocked me. How unfortunate. syphonbyte(t|c)17:38, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Get back to writing the encyclopedia then. Stop re-adding yourself to the deleted category and stop having friends re-add it for you. Every administrator knows what Wikipedia is — and it certainly isn't about allowing groups of users to declare themselves as gangsters. By continuing to defend this nonsense category you only serve to discredit yourself, and by continually re-creating that category you only serve to get yourself blocked. --Cyde Weys17:46, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I can't, you blocked me. I re-added myself because the category was not deleted, it is on CfD. If I'm not in the category then there will be delete comments in the CfD based on the category being empty, which is not the case. I did not have User:The Raven add me back to the category last night when he did, however I regrettably cannot prove this. Anyhow, I am actually a gangster, (current or former gang member) so that category is accurate, at least. If the category is deleted, then so be it; I will follow the community's consensus more than willingly. I would like for the community to be given a chance for consensus, though. That means not having the CfD closed prematurely and not having members of the category in question continuously removed from it so as to make it appear that the category is empty. Now, about unblocking me so that I can get back to writing the encyclopedia... oh, and thank you for adding the {{{Subst:unsigned}}} tag on your talk page after my comment, guess I forgot my signature. syphonbyte(t|c)17:52, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
MySpace would be a great place to go if you want to claim to be a gangster. Hell, you can even find other gangsters there and network with them. Wikipedia is a place you come to if you want to write an encyclopedia. Otherwise, you go elsewhere. It's really that simple. --Cyde Weys17:57, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said, if the category must be deleted, then so be it. I won't recreate it. You're ignoring the fact that you unjustifiably blocked me 2 times. I was hoping to foster dialog this time, but I suppose I should've learned from the other 2 or 3 times that you aren't going to try to rectify this situation, so I'll have to seek mediation, I suppose. syphonbyte(t|c)18:14, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No mediation is necessary. Just stop using Wikipedia for inane reasons and use it only to write an encyclopedia and there will be no problems. --Cyde Weys19:26, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am not using Wikipedia for inane reasons. I had put the category on my page as a light joke, however it was unfortunately blown out of proportion many times. I was totally unaware that this would escalate to the point that it has, and it's very sad. syphonbyte(t|c)23:38, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This was a reviewed unblock request that is preserved here without being placed into any categories as a manner of keeping a more solid record of the unblock request. Please do not edit it.
Request reason: "I have been blocked a second time by Cyde for what he claims as "more disruption and edit-warring," however I have made 4 edits since I was unblocked; one to my talk page to remove the previous block request, which you can read in the page history of this page. It demonstrates that the previous block was wholly unjustified and violated almost every part of blocking policy. I made one edit to a CfD which was a simple comment and another to my userpage to replace a small box (but NOT the category that Cyde claimed to have blocked me previously for adding myself to, even though it is an existing category) and the last edit was a perfectly civil message to Cyde notifying him of the block. I assumed that he had thought that the category I added myself to had been deleted in the CfD that he previously closed (see Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 July 30#Gangster Wikipedians), however it went through DRV and is now on CfD again Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 August 6#Gangster Wikipedians). Now, though, it is clear that Cyde is not acting in good faith, as this block is obviously wrong. I was never notified, first of all, that I was "edit-warring," which I wasn't. Cyde also should not have been the blocking admin at all, as he and I are in a content dispute over the Gangster Wikipedians category. Even the block text itself states this; it says that I am blocked for "edit-warring," however the only thing close to that is Cyde's removal of content on my page after blocking me. If restoring one quarter of what he deleted constitutes edit warring, then I will admit my guilt and take the block, however it is obviously not edit warring. Also, I am not part of a group of meatpuppets, and this is very clear if one looks at my contributions. I'm not fighting to preserve a WP:NOT category, I am fighting for it to have due process in its deletion, which it was not given when Cyde originally prematurely closed the first CfD. Because this block is grossly unjustified, I think it would be more than fair to unblock me so that I can carry out a dialog with Cyde on how we can solve this problem.|You seem to seriously misunderstand what wikipedia is about, it is an encyclopaedia no amount of voting to make it myspace will make it myspace WP:NOT a democracy, not a bureaucracy etc. etc."

Content of block infobox:
Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing.
You were blocked by Cyde for the following reason (see our blocking policy):
More disruption and edit-warring, user is involved in a group of meatpuppets fighting to preserve an utterly WP:NOT category.
Your IP address is 65.140.10.244.

Request reason: "I most certainly do NOT believe that Wikipedia is in ANY way Myspace. I wanted the category to go through due process, however now I can see that this won't happen. Go ahead and delete it. The block is still totally unjustified in every way. It was issued by a user whom I was in a content dispute with, which violates blocking policy. It was issued for "disruption," which I have not done; I added a single box to my page and made a comment on a CfD, as well as removing the previous unblock request because my 3 hour block (which was also unjustified) was expired. The admin who denied my previous unblock request obviously did not read the reason I was blocked or my clear and logical explanation for why I should be unblocked. A 31 hour block because I posted on Cyde's talk page with a perfectly civil comment, a post on a CfD, a removal of an unblock request for an expired block and adding a small box to my userpage is not a reason to block me and violates blocking policy. This is why I'm requesting to be unblocked. I do not wish to turn Wikipedia into Myspace; a simple review of my contributions makes this quite obvious. I am growing frustrated with this entire situation and I really am starting to regret adding that category to my userpage, which I thought would be taken as a light joke, as it was intended. Blocking me for doing nothing wrong does nothing but hurt the encyclopedia as a whole, and Cyde has repeatedly ignored my attempts at negotiation with him. If I am unblocked, or if the block simply expires because another admin refuses to read this, then I will write up an objective timeline of exactly what happened and take it to a request for mediation. Hopefully Cyde will be willing to talk with me instead of blocking me for trying to sort this all out. If this comes across as an uncivil or aggressive request for unblocking, that is not at all the tone I'm trying to create. Rather, I am somewhat desperate now as I am unable to get anywhere with this situation, and I don't want to violate Wikipedia's policies (i.e. sockpuppeting or something of that sort) to do so, unlike what Cyde has clearly done. I am totally willing to forgive him if he will have a dialog with me, which would allow me to see his side of the story. Currently it seems as though he has labeled me as a troublemaker who wants nothing more than to mess around, however my contributions clearly illustrate that this is not the case. I hope that the admin who reviews this request will look over my contributions to see what kind of user I am, as well as my previous unblock request which illustrates more precisely the exact reasons I am requesting unblocking."
Decline reason: "I support this block, it's not indefinite. User should wait it out and then stick to what he's committed above, not add himself to a disruptive category and not war about it. I see no evidence that Cyde has ignored attempts to communicate, he just hasn't agreed with this user. I think the block should stand and I decline to lift it. ON expiration, please edit the encyclopedia. ++Lar: t/c00:46, 9 August 2006 (UTC)"[reply]
