Infobox Gallery in "Greeks" article

Hello ! We have agreed to expand the picture gallery from the Greeks article in the shape of these ones:

Liberty ship book

I removed that book because it is fiction and its presence in the article is promotional. I consider its addition in the article to be promotional vandalism by the original editor User:Richard Whitten Barnes. The article does not need fiction books of any sort. TrainOSE services

Hey. I have started working on the New Railway Station page for Thessaloniki. I find it very hard to find information regarding intermediate stations between Thessaloniki and Athens. The "passing through" function at the TrainOSE page gives a list of all services passing from Thessaloniki station, but the IC and ICE services do not give any information as to the stops between Athens and Thessaloniki. As a kid I used to ride the train a lot to go to Livadia, and I remember that OSE published a comprehensive service booklet with all the stops in each service, but I can't find something similar nowadays. I have information on OSE stations, actually I have visited most of them at one time or another. However creating consistent articles about railway networks and services to the Wikipedia traditions and standards is not trivial.
Currently most stations are closed (even Levadeia is closed, although some services stop there). On the 1st of May a new passenger service timetable shall be issued, with much reduced services, and a booklet shall be printed (hopefully). I have also heard some rumours that by the end of 2011 there shall be only two trains per day on Athens-Thessaloniki! Wait and see, it is pointless to write anything right now, given that there are no reliable sources to work with.

OSE Class 3107

Hi Sv1xv; thanks for this correction; I didn't know that OSE classes are named after the first train number of the class. In Switzerland, where this trainset was built (and where I live), train classes are named after specification in the Swiss system. So, that's the reason for my misunderstanding. There are a "classical" and a slightly modernized Swiss system, and this trainset's specification is using the "classical" one, which still would be used as its designation on narrow gauge Swiss railways. For example, the Rhaetian Railway ABe 8/12 - the first trainset of this class has the number 3501, but at the Rhaetian Railway, it's not "class 3501" - it's "class ABe 8/12". If there are different classes with the same specification, Roman numbering is used, e.g. Rhaetian Railway Ge 4/4 II (the more modern system used by SBB replaces the axle specification part by a class number, e.g. "RABDe 500"). Therefore, as the OSE trainsets have also a marking BDmh 2Z+4A/12 that is clearly visible on photos, and furthermore because Swiss railway magazine articles suggest that they adopted this as the class designation, I naturally assumed that it is indeed the class designation. So, would you suggest that the article over at the German Wikipedia, de:OSE BDmh 2Z+4A/12 should be moved to "OSE 3107"? And it would be helpful you could name a source for this, as the reference currently given for "These are designated as Class 3107" does, in fact, not mention a Class 3107. From 1961 and until about 1999 SEK (and later OSE) classes were informally named after the first locomotive, so we have class A-451, class A-201 and so on. Numbers for each new class started with 1 in a new decade, so we have A-501 to A-510 for the MLW MX-636 diesels and A-451 to A-470 for MLW MX-527 diesels. The old system is not formally documented, however there is some logic in it.
Around 1999, the system was changed to a variation of the german system with six digits, but only for standard gauge rolling stock. This new system was applied retroactively to some existing locomotives and DMUs, but not to all. Classes are now specified as the first 3 digits. Now we have class 220 for the ADtranz diesel locomotives (220.001 to 220.036), class 120 for the HellasSprinter electric locomotives (120.001-120.030), class 460 for Desiro EMUs, class 560 for Stadler DMUs etc.
For narrow gauge trains they did not apply this new system, they kept four digit numbers, and used it for new acquisitions, so metre gauge Stadler GTW 2/6 DMUs are informally "class 4501" and Kalavryta DMUs are "class 3107".
Unfortunately there is no formal source for this, nobody bothered to publish the old or the new spec. Even when OSE published online a concise list in 2007 (now removed), they used descriptive names instead, like Αυτοκινητάμαξα οδοντωτής γραμμής Decauville (Rack railway railbus Decauville) etc. One would assume that the descriptive name is the only official name for a class. I guess class 3107 would be listed as Rack railway railbus Stadler in a recent version of the list.
I understand that this is confusing (perhaps chaotic) but we have learned to live with it! Please see Hellenic Railways Organisation rolling stock for a complete list. SV1XV (talk) 04:17, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

URAA and Greece

Hi, could you answer the question at Wikipedia talk:Non-U.S. copyrights#Greece (and continue the discussion there)? Unless what I think is the 1993 law isn't really the actual 1993 law, it does look like Greece went to 70 pma in 1993. But, maybe I'm missing something. AX.25 level 3

So, If AX.25 does not specify a level 3 protocol, I think "AX.25 occupies the first, second, and often the third layers of the OSI networking model" isn't the best sentence since layer 3 protocols are above AX.25 not in AX.25 protocol.
