“Thanks a lot for your message. I’ve had a difficult experience so far, as one of the editors keeps removing my edits on a particular page, even after I explained everything on the talk page. The edits continue to be removed despite my attempts to clarify.” Stop culprits (talk) 07:48, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to living or recently deceased subjects of biographical content on Wikipedia articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

understand the concerns, and I have no intention of edit-warring or violating any BLP policy. I will not add anything to the article without clear consensus.
My goal has only been to understand the correct application of BLP policies and to ensure consistency with how similar biographies handle ongoing legal matters. In many other BLPs, well-sourced ongoing cases are included with neutral wording, which is why I raised the question here.
I have been trying to discuss this collaboratively with other editors, but the discussion has not moved forward because the objections raised have not cited any specific sentence in BLP, BLPCRIME, or BLP1E that prohibits inclusion. That is why I am requesting wider input so uninvolved editors can help clarify the appropriate approach.
I am happy to follow the appropriate noticeboard processes and will not make any changes to the article without clear consensus. Stop culprits (talk) 09:03, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Sarsenet. An edit that you recently made seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology). Text produced by these applications is usually unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and may contain factually inaccurate statements, fictitious citations, or other problems. You should instead read reliable sources and then summarize those in your own words. Your edit may have been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Sarsenethe/they•(talk) 06:33, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Also, for transparency: yes, I occasionally use AI tools to help rewrite sentences to avoid grammar mistakes, but the arguments, points, and intentions are my own. Stop culprits (talk) 09:04, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
