Hello, Simharris. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. Gill Sans
[edit]Just for the record, Gill Sans is a typeface (which has many fonts - I blame Apple for confusing people with computer fonts). Gill Sans scales very well to very large fonts; more typically a dedicated display typeface would be used. I have a problem with use of the word lettering because it has a specific meaning that is not the one I think you intended. I'm struggling to come up with an alternative to "typeface", though. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - I certainly won't trouble again. I am not aware of being involved in an 'edit war'. References to franchises after September 2020 are simply wrong. see https://www.gov.uk/government/news/rail-franchising-reaches-the-terminus-as-a-new-railway-takes-shape. - There is no voting on Wikipedia - but there is consensus. When someone disagrees with you, per WP:BRD you should start a talk page discussion - as I said above, the best place for this is likely Wikipedia talk:WikiProject UK Railways. Continuing to revert back to your preferred version, like you did at South Western Railway, is considered edit warring. - You're correct that franchises were essentially removed in 2020, but you're editing an article about a company that was operator of a franchise when it started in 2017. @Danners430 was correct to revert you. I would have done the same. 10mmsocket (talk) 12:11, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
