Wikipedia is not a publicity platform

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to 3D modeling. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you.

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to 3D modeling. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.

Please learn the rules as linked above before you attempt to edit again. Not only are blog links generally unacceptable on Wikipedia, but adding links to your own blog is completely unacceptable. Repeated incidents can lead to your account being blocked and your blog URL being blacklisted on this site. ~Anachronist (talk) 14:09, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The content you added was copied from another website, and thus was a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. Please don't add copyright material to Wikipedia. — Diannaa (talk) 14:00, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Diannaa: Well, it's his own website, so he correctly believes has the right to republish his content, but he doesn't understand (as most content owners don't) that the Wikimedia Foundation has not been granted the right to republish his content. This is more of a COI / promotion issue. And I've blocked the account anyway. ~Anachronist (talk) 14:14, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The site with the matching text is this one, and it shows the author is Michelle Burton. The fact that the account is blocked has no impact on my mission to spread the word that adding copyright material to Wikipedia is not allowed. — Diannaa (talk) 14:21, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
